front door repair

On my 2006 Executive, the steel plate that is the bottom of the front door appears to be rusting inside. It is leaking out of the left side and staining the step area. There are 5 pop rivets on the bottom and two 1 inch long screws on each end of the door on the side wall near the bottom of the door. There is one factory drain hole on the bottom. I have removed one of the screws in an attempt to flood the botom plate with oil. Has anyone found a way to remove the bottom plate without taking the whole door apart?

It appears that the outer rubber seal at the top of the door is not water tight thanks to poor design and the corner joints at the top and bottom of the door are also not sealed. This allows water to enter door from the top and collect on the bottom. Maybe worth checking on your coach.

Thanks Bair; I have a little water that pools at the floor of the door opening and and there is some bubbling of the paint. It is something I will have to look at.
