Fuel flow sequence?? Tank to Injectors

On most of our DP rigs, one can describe fuel flow as
(a) originating at the fuel tank,
(b) passing through two fuel filters, and
(c) reaching the injectors.

In the above sequence, where is the fuel pump located?

And where is it (in the above sequence) does unused/excess fuel make its way back to the fuel tank via the return line?

On our rig, tank, first filter, lift pump, second filter, injection pump, injectors, back to second filter and back to tank.
