FWIW My Driver Shade just came crashing down! I had to repair the Plastic mounting clip on the center windshield end. Then as I pushed the device back up to the ceiling to access the difficulty of drilling a new hole in my patch, I noticed that the ceiling has a considerable bow in it. The original plastic end piece had several stress cracks. You may want to take a look at yours. Just unscrew the center end screw and it will hang down about a foot on the power chord. It would be a lot easier to fix before it comes down!
