Gen not working after converter change

Trace inverter/converter failed on our unit. Was equalizing big time at 16.4 volts. Replaced it with a Magnum MS2012 which appears to be working just fine. Now the generator won't start from the dash control or the wires that were hooked to the Trace inverter. Any ideas???
Good luck, good health and safe travels!

Does it crank? That is, does it turn over? Does it have a start switch on the generator? If it does have a switch on the generator does it start or turn over from there.

If no joy trying to start it from the switch on the generator I suspect a wire was left off at the battery. The installer should have disconnected the battery cables for safety and could easily have dropped one out of sight.

Solved the problem. Printed info on the old Trace conv/invr and decided that ground was a problem. Made up a small short jumper cable and connected the ground wire to the battery and it worked. Best I can figure is that Monaco ran 2 0000 cables direct from the battery to the charger/inverter and then had another ground cable which was attached to a separate ground connector on the Trace chgr/invr. That was for a shunt to read the loaded current draw. As soon as I hooked up the ground to the chgr/invr negative connection everything came on as it was supposed to, including the genset panel and remote start stop switches. Now if the weather will just abate and warm up slightly I will get under there and splice up a short piece of 0000 cable with proper sized connectors and attach it to the negative chgr/invr post. The short test wire works but a 0000 wire is for safety reasons in the event of a big time short circuit.
Good luck, good health and safe travels!
