Generator oil level?

I have a 7500 Onan diesel generator, my dipstick is a cable with a yellow plastic tab on the end.. there are no markings on the tab or the cable to indicate if the level is ok, low,etc.. where should the oil be on the stick/cable when full? Thanks!

It should be near the top of the yellow tab

I think you are missing the plastic yellow tip that is about 2 to 2/12" long at the end of that cable, that has the level markings on it.
