The manual for my Cayman says that the generator should run until the diesel fuel level is around 1/4 full. However, my cutoff point seems to be around 1/2 full. This is pretty limiting, as my tank capacity is only 75 gallons. When it's hot, we like to run the generator to keep the A/C going. Now we have to stop every 225-250 miles to keep the tank topped off.

So... is there a way to adjust the feed line to the generator so that it will operate according to the specs?

Thanks,

Ron

Generic answer: extend the genset draw tube in the fuel tank.

There's been a bunch of threads on here in the past discussing the details on how to do that. Try a Search function to see what's been done.

How are you determining the half full mark? If it's the fuel gauge it may be wrong. When mine shows ¼ full I still have 75 gallons left in a 150 gallon tank

When the generator stopped, I exited at the next diesel station (about 5 miles). My tank took only 38 gallons to fill up (out of 75 capacity). Once filled up, it ran no problem for rest of trip.

Based on other threads, it sounds like I need to order a new fuel tube and make it longer than the current one.

Be sure your fuel hose clamp is tight at the tank. If it is sucking air it will give you those symptoms too. It took me awhile to find that one.
