Generator will not start

I went to start my 7500 Onan diesel generator for it's normal running cycle and all I heard was a clicking noise. I believe it may be a bad connection because both the house and starting batteries are fully charged.

Where can I check the connectors and does anyone have any other ideas.

This is in a 2004 Diplomat.

How long did you hold the button down? When my unit is cold, it takes a while to turn over.

Same here. You must hold the start button down while the light flashes until the generator starts. Not only does this prime the generator but in cold weather it runs glow plugs. Depending on the temperature and how long it has been since you started the generator, it can take quite a long time before the starter engages.

You should RUN your generator at least once a month.

Are you trying to start it from inside the MH or at the generator?
I would start at the generator to get a better perspective.
This could be a fuel or ground or glow plug problem, assuming yiu have primed it long enough

At the genny, you will see a large battery cable going to the starter. Also on the genny frame, will be the neg cable running to the coach frame. 9 times out of 10, the neg cable will have a bad/corroded connection at the frame. Failing that, check both ends of the pos cable and the neg connection on the genny frame.

I held the button for over 10 seconds. It is in the high 80's here so I don't think it is because it is cold. I will look at the cables this weekend and report back. Thanks for the information.
