Generator won't turnover fast enough to start

Tired several times to start my 10,000 KW Onan generator with no success. Appears the generator isn't turning over fast enough to start. Batteries are new/good and fully charged. Prime button held down up to 20 seconds then push start side of rocker button. Generator will crank but not fast enough to catch. I've held down the start button for 20 seconds with no success. Tried to start it at generator, dash, and mid coach panel. Even used boost switch on dash - no success. Suggestions?? Related question - which batteries are used to start the generator - house or chassis? Thanks.

Looks like you have covered the basics.
Do you have plenty of fuel in the tank?

USUALLY the chassis battery bank is what powers the starter circuit for the genny. You should have at least 9.6 volts at the genny starter during cranking. Usually there is a large insulated stud on the side of the Onan shroud where the cable to the batteries attaches. That would be a good place to check the voltage while cranking.

check all your power and ground connections to the starter supply wires. Even remove them, clean them and reinstall. It may also be just a weak starter. If you have a volt meter, check voltage at the starter positive post that supplies the battery voltage. Usually l like to see over 10V to a starter. As listed above 9.6 is minimum and might be slightly low. I suspect it is a diesel generator so it will pull some amps to crank over.

Try holding the battery boost switch down and then cranking.

On my mh the generator uses the chassis batteries so if dry camping and you run the house batteries down you can start the generator off the chassis batteries. After you try and start the generator do you get a flashing red light on the generator start switch? If do push the bottom part of the start rocker switch and read the two part fault code. Also check your oil level because it will not start if low. Also the generator will not start if your main fuel tank is at the quarter full level or below.

What is the voltage reading on your Aladdin display for chassis volts? You will need to have the key on one notch and read the engine parameter screen.

What is the voltage reading on your inverter display?

Also, please describe what you mean by "won't catch". Does it just click while holding down the start switch for 20+ seconds or does it eventually turn over, spin slowly and just not start.

When is the last time you had the generator serviced, including fuel filter?

Also, as someone said, what is your fuel tank level reading?
