I have a new respect for you full timers! We are trying to get ready for a four to six month cross country trip, and I can't beleive how involved getting ready to leave has proved to be
Getting the dentist and doctors handled...figuring out our mail forwarding. Making sure the DIP is ready...etc. etc. etc. It's a long list of things to attend to. We will need a vacation by the time we leave

teoff,

It's not so bad for us "full timers" since we only have to do it once. What is really hard is moving into a new motor home after 5 years of full time. My wife had "stuff" stashed in places I didn't even know we had places.

We originally started on a six month trip and were going to buy another house. That was 6 years ago and we still love it out here.

Enjoy your trip!

Hi Bruce & Gloria!
Glad to hear you are travelling. We just went through all that 'getting ready' stuff and are now on a perimeter trip. It took a lot of work! We are now headed west until we reach the Pacific, then will turn right and go until we get to the border, then turn right again until we get to the Atlantic, then turn right and head south to our old stomping grounds of the Keys, then come back west along the southern border. All around the perimeter of this great country.

We sure appreciate your help in organizing the recent Quartzsite gathering. We had a good time.
Safe travels!

Safe travels to you also....I am going to follow the 10 freeway, through El Paso to San Antonio..down to Galveston Bay to New Orleans, Mobil Bay to Jacksonville, Fl, then up through Hilton Head, Savannah and into Atlanta. That's where the grandkids are...pick them up and back to Orlando to do the Disney thing...back to Atlanta...drop them off and head up the east coast to Canada.
Then head west through Canada for a while, and probably drop back into the states in Michigan. Then, keep heading west till we hit the west coast, and Oregon, where the other grandkid resides....then home sometime in September or so... Gee, I'm getting tired thinking about it

You're travelling counter-clockwise and we are going clockwise. Keep in touch so we know where the 2 ships pass.

We are SO jealous. Guess we will have to hold down the Fort here in Arizona as most of you will be traveling! We'll bake in the heat for you

Let us know when you return--we'll go out to dinner to hear ALL about the trips!

Rick and Mic--see you Sunday or Monday at the Rally!

We will be back about September or so...the great part is, we don't have to be anywhere at any time!!!! Yeah!!..waited a lot of years for this. We should plan an Arizona casual rally for the fall!!!!

We also have a planned stay in the land of the infamous Toll Troll. We want to take a tour of the Monaco factory and will be in the Valley of the Troll mid-April.

Anyone else planning to be in Oregon in April?

Bruce sounds like a fun trip. When you get to Mobile on I-10 there is a tunnel under the river, but no problem going through it. One caution about the tunnel is the entrance, it is a tight curve with traffic entering on the right just at the entrance. Speed limit is 45 at the entrance and that is often a bit fast. Stay in the next to outside lane. That lane and the one to the left are the only ones that go into the tunnel.

I-10 is rough as a cob between Beaumont Texas and Lake Charles Louisiana. Also some rough spots in the Baton Rouge area.

In Baton Rouge take I-12 until it again joins I-10 in the Slidell Louisiana area to avoid going through New Orleans.

Have a great trip

WOW... What a great idea Mic!! hmmm new topic coming up!

Bruce..as I was reading your post from work today (YES... Mama is watching you ..and you didn't even know it!)...and read the visit info to Oregon... and thought "He knows better - but give him time to correct himself" and sure enough...you didn't disappoint Mama! I was pretty sure you remembered about AKBrick...always learn from others mistakes!

Looking forward to seeing you, Gloria & the dogs later this year!

You know the rest of us that still have to work for a living are so jealous of your "4 - 6 month, don't have to be anywhere at any particular time" journey! It will be awesome, and we expect lots of pics along the way. So sorry, I don't feel bad for you having to deal with the details, I'm just a teeny bit jealous!! But very, very happy for you! I think a casual AZ get together sounds great...
