Got my Title today. What is "WT-L-BHP" on the Title mean?

I now have a Title and Registration for my MH. So I can actually start using it.

I was looking at the Title (state of FL) and there is a a box at the top labeled "WT-L-BHP" in the box it says 39900.

My GVWR is 46,300 lbs. I thought maybe this is just the weight and the previous owner put in the wrong number or something - I wasn't going to mess with this or ask at the DMV and mess up my chance of getting my Title/Registration completed.

But I'm curious. I googled it and this came up (among other explanations):

Quote:
WT-L-BHP weight to load brake horsepower- this is how much weight you can safely brake- as it relates to the engine, your bus has a Jacobs brake? Usually that is the reference this is to.
It sounds plausible, however being the internet, I'm cautious of whatever I read there. It may be true. I don't see this number (39,900) anywhere in the coach (weight rating labels) or other documentation that came with the coach. Does anyone else have something like this on their Title?

WT to Load Brake Horse Power wouldn’t be in the coach weight ratings. This is a rating of the weight that can be effectively handled by the Jacobs Brake.

Sure - but how did it get on the Title?

Maybe the original Title from the manufacturer had this number and it just carried through the ownership changes.

I don’t know for sure. I do know that States can access this kind of info if they want to. No doubt most States don’t care about this info. I’ll guess that FL may consider any diesel with a Jake Brake some sort of a commercial vehicle, or that because the info is available, they just use it. In any event, I certainly wouldn’t lose a drop of sleep over it. If you do, contact the FL DMV for their explanation.

Brake horse power is a term used for horse power from an engine on a dynamometer. It has nothing to due with engine brake [Jacobs Brake]. bhp is a measurement used on all different types of engines.

dont know about the title but in FL you can put what ever weight on the tag that you want no matter what the GVW on the vehicle is.. that is all the DOT officer cared about when i asked him about my rig.

In old days in Mn we kept our gas v10 mhs under the next more expensive rating to keep plate cost down. They we like E F G and hundreds more for each higher number. No one ever weighted it so I took cheaper letter

Yes, I could have put something different in that box when I filled out the Title paperwork. It already had 39,900 in that box on the official Title so I used that number.

I thought a previous owner might have fibbed about the weight (maybe under 40,000 is cheaper in some States) but in FL it's the same price.

I see on the Registration that my MH is listed as 39,900 Net Weight. So I know where that number came from. I don't know if it is correct. I'm not sure how Net weight and GVW relate.
