GPS Opinion

I just tried out my new GPS on a trip from North Carolina to Disney in FL. In the past I've had a TomTom and a Rand McNally. The TomTom worked well for about a year, and then became very unstable. The Rand McNally was totally unacceptable, and I returned it to CW. The new one is the Garmin RV 760LMT. It performed flawlessly, and was well worth it's fairly high price (around 350). Having a good GPS makes your trips much more enjoyable!

I have a rand 7720 and it works great. As with any gps you need to keep it up-to-date and have the proper settings.

I have the Garmin RV 760LMT paid 300 from Amazon Only trouble I had was that it had me in the middle of a field because the new road was not on the map yet. I could see the old road on the GPS and it tried to route me on to it. This was about 20 miles until it met the old road again.

I have the Garmin RV760LMT and love it. I use the heck out of the voice commands. It finds all my destinations by just talking to her. I also you the apps on my cellphone to give me weather data on the Garmin. Tried Tom Tom and they are too difficult to use and get all the features. My Garmin is set up to continously display distance to rest areas and truck stops. It sure helps in planning the stops. The other feature is programming it with the diamensions of the RV. It has saved me a couple of times from going under low overpasses when I tow the race car trailer behind the Mack truck.

Lifemember did you do a map and software update on the Garmin?

I use Waze on my iPad 2 in the motorhome. An appropriately sized display and lots of interactive information submitted by other users. Things like road conditions and traffic information. Maps are always up to date.

We also use Waze on our iPhones in our daily drivers. Haven't broken out the Garmin for 2 years.

We only have a 2GByte between the two of us and we rarely go over that.

I use the CoPilot Live app on my 10" ASUS Tablet. Works great and the app was only $9.95 and receives regular updates for free.

DANG ! they keep PULLING me in (to buy the latest toy !) I was just researching dashcams as we had some real idjuts cut us off in the mh this weekend.

but as far as a gps...the 760 has worked out...
I even got the kit with the rear view camera and installed it on the Jeep toad ....
That 7 inch screen is great in the mh, but fills up the jeeps windshield !

We also use WAZE on our smartphones......great for showing slowing road conditions, Pilots and Flying J's, etc. I especially like the real time on line situation.....several times in recent months it has told of us interstate wreck ahead and routed us around the mess to alternate routes. The Co-Pilot watches for those things leaving the driver free to safely drive. Happy Trails to You.
