Happycarz came by yesterday & took pictures of the grill & fan, that I installed in the rear cap of my Camelot -- HOPEFULLY, this will solve the rear closet heat -- (It was Friday afternoon, & I was carring on the family tradition of 5 o`clock somewhere, & I was, as we say in East Texas,"awkward" -- I know that`s spelled right, because I looked it up) -- I think he`s gonna post the pictures -- Bill Willard

Nicely done, Billy P!
Hopefully ...it will solve the problem. When is your next trip to test it out?

The grill has not been painted yet -- It comes with a powder coat primer -- A mobil RV repair co. is coming out next week to do some fiberglass repairs(cracks at the radius roof line where the front & rear caps meet the roof) & paint, so it will be painted then -- Monaco`s nickle -- It took about an hour to install the grill -- Mostly measuring, & remeasuring-- The grill has a half inch flange, so no room for goofs -- I used pop rivets, but I`ve seen some mounted using screws, & that don`t look to good -- IF, I installed another one, I would make brackets, & install from the back -- Mama -- We`re planning on going to Texas, & points East (depending on the tornados)leaving maybe, the first of May -- I don`t want to return to the Northeast until next winter -- I love that cold miserable weather -- Bill Willard

Winnsboro Texas -- I know pi are round, corn bread are square -- I forgot to mention that I installed a 10 inch automotive engine cooling fan next to the coolant reservoir -- It pulls air from the manifold/turbo side -- Air blows out the grill -- If this don`t work, shucks -- Bill Willard

That's pretty deep in the piney woods and Deep East Texas. We're about 30 mi south of you in Arp (10 mi east of Tyler).

That should be a lot of air moving through the engine compartment. Next step would have to be liquid nitrogen.

Bill,
You sure you don't work for Monoco? That was very nicely done! BTW, the powder coat looks good enough, but there's never anything wrong with some new shiny paint! SWEET!!!

Good luck with the crack repair. We're heading up to Junction City in a couple of weeks to get our roof cracks done. I'm just glad we were heading up there anyway.

In the picture of the fan, there is a hose(blue) from the bottom of the coolant reservoir,& in Feb. while enroute to Harrisburg, I stopped at a rest area, just south of Red Bluff CA. -- Left the engine running, & when I went to the rear of the coach, coolant was all over the ground -- That hose had split about 2 inches from the top -- I shut the engine down, & was able to cut the hose, & reattach it -- I had enough coolant with me to continue on to Red Bluff -- When I got to Harrisburg I told them what happened, & the service writter knew what hose I was referring to -- They installed a new hose & coolant -- The hose looked like it had been in service for years, when in fact the M/H is a 07 -- In an earlier thread on this forum, this was discussed, & some other ones across country had the same experience -- So, carry spare coolant -- AkBrick -- Hope Guaranty RV does your fiberglass work & not Monaco`s Peroia Road -- I`ve seen some of their work that didn`t last literaly, over night -- That happened when at Harrisburg last Feb. -- Bill Willard

Bill,
Guaranty is deffinately doing the work. They fixed our last cracks in Junction City. They did a great job and I have no fear that they will again. Scott Stevens is the bodyshop manager and he is "The Man". He's really good to work with and "knows" Monocos. He said that Monoco only used one thin piece of fiberglass cloth to put the roof pieces together to save money......Er,..wait a minute, how did this post get to this subject?

Will Monaco install this on others that have heat concerns. I think it should be a recall. Someone is going to have a fire.

We had our coach in twice to have the closet/engine heat problem looked at. The dealer put in more insulation. But after reading Bill's message, we made one call and the shop is ready to put in the vent and fan at Monaco's expense.

This is why this forum is so great. I had actually given up until Bill let us know what Monaco had decided to do about his problem. THANKS!

(UPS34): We had no problem with Monaco especially because we had the coach in during the first year for the problem. Check it out ......
