I've never used the heat pump until this trip to the Oregon sand dunes and love it. It warms the coach more evenly. Since we have electrical hookup figured I'd save diesel fuel. Is there anything I should be aware of when using the heat pump other than if outside temp drops below 40 degrees switch to diesel heat?

You should be fine when hooked up to electric service and over 40 degrees.

Ken...when were up front watching TV, I turn on the rear heat pump and close the vents in the bedroom. You can hardly hear it running. When we go to bed, I turn the front one on and let it filter to the rear.

We also have the hp's and wouldn't trade them for anything.

I have used my heat pumps with no problem down to the low 30's. It is much better to use these than pay $5.00 a gallon for propane in FL. When my HP/AC's fail I will buy the AC's with heating strips in them. George R. 2001 Diplomat

You can buy AC's now with I believe 5,000 btu heaters built in the unit.
I had my front AC making a lot of noise and banging around and was told by an RV shop that I needed a new AC/Heat Pump. I was going to order a new one but took the cover off of the front one and a mud dauber had built a big nest in the condenser end of the fan making it out of balance. I had to replace the rubber dampers in the fan motor mount but that was the only thing wrong. George R. 2001 Diplomat

Keep saving the diesel & get a couple of ceramic space heaters (the 3-wattage setting ones give you more options that the 2-wattage setting ones) for when the temps drop below where your A/C heat pumps operate efficiently. Since you've already paid for your electric with your site fees, continue to use that by plugging in the space heaters. Do all you can to avoid having to fire up your diesel.

We do the same, works fine until the temps get really low; then the heat pumps go off and the aqua hot goes on.
