Help! 2004 Rambler Admiral entry step switch issue

04 Admiral, just had the original kwikee step replaced with another and now the door switch seems to be operating backwards. When turned on (indicator light illuminated) steps stay extended with door opened and closed. Also slightly noticeable ticking sound from under the coach forward of the transmission area sounds like a relay or selenoid maybe.
With switch in off position (light off)steps extend /retract with door open/close. Isn't it supposed to work opposite of that? Trying to get issue fixed before this weekend as I'll be stationary and don't want the steps in and out every time I open the door.

macjac69-

Here's a link to a Google search of iRV2 posts with the terms "Kwikee" and "backwards" in them.

Thanks, I did search for about an hour and a half. I guess I was using all the wrong keywords.
