High Idle

I know that I have a " high idle " on my 2007 Navigator, but I have no idea how or where to switch it on or off. Any ideas? Thanks.

After the engine is started, press the Cruise Control "on" button. Then press the cruise "set" button. Should go to 1100-1200 rpm. Touching the brake peddle or one of the cruise buttons will turn off high idle

If it's like my 07 neptune with the cummins ISB (very small motor compared to yours) tap resume once 1100 rpm, tap resume again 1500 rpm.

There are button strokes as mentioned below to raise and lower the normal idle RPM settings also. I can't remember if you keep hitting the resume button to go up, up, up, back down, up, up, up or what, anyone remember? I only had to reset it once after leaving Cummins cause they set it way up on me. Maybe it was just resume =up, set = down or something.
Note: not the high idle, the actual idle...
Thanks

On mine, cc on then res will give you 1000rpm or set will give you 1200. Your mileage may vary.

From the OM for my 2009 Diplomat:

To Use High Idle Feature:
· With the cruise control ON (see dash light), press and release the RES button. Each time the switch is pressed and released, the idle will rise 25 RPMs, from approximately 500-800 RPM. To lower the idle, press and hold the SET button. Engine idle speed will decrease.
· With the Cruise Control ON, press and release the RES button once. Engine speed will increase to approximately 1,100 RPM. Push and hold the RES button, engine speed will increase to 1,400 RPM. Use CANCEL or turn the cruise control OFF to return the engine to an idle.
· With the Cruise Control ON, press the SET button once. Engine will increase to approximately 1,200 RPM. Press and hold the SET button, engine speed will decrease to 800 RPM. Use CANCEL or turn the cruise control OFF to return the engine to idle.

Take care,
Stu

Perfect! Thanks.
My owners manual is so generic it basically says nothing.
I appreciate your information.

Among other things, one of the great things about my Monaco is that they make the Owner's Manual available in .pdf format. I keep a copy on my laptop and find the "search" function in Adobe Reader to be very, very helpful.

Search for "High Idle" and I'm there. Much easier and quicker than looking thru 258 pages.

Take care,
Stu

Not sure why you would want to "high idle"? My manual says this:

High idle works very well to reinflate the air bags before departure in the morning. That's about all I use it for.

Take care,
Stu

Idle RPM....750-800

High Idle....1100 +

Idle will not burn all fuel, can wash cylinder down, builds no heat

High Idle burns most of the fuel, builds heat and allows for faster increase in air pressure

High Idle RPM is not considered 'Idle' by Cummins or CAT
