2007 Neptune Owner's Manual pg 152.
When hooked to 30 Amps:
"If 50 Amp service is not available, wait approx 1 Hour before operating electric appliances."
Why 1 hour???
I've never done this with other 50A MH's operating on 30A. Does anyone wait the 1 hour?

Makes no sense unless they think the converter will be using a lot of current to charge the house batteries. If the batteries are up I say go ahead and run what the 30 amp service will support.

Seems to me that the manual writer lives in a cool climate and has never hooked up a RV to 30A here on the Gulf Coast in July or August. You get that AC going just as fast as you can.

Bob - Under the "When Hooked to 50A" section it does say wait approx 1 min for the inverter/charger to stabilize charging of the batteries before starting AC or other large loads. 1 min is ok but 1 hr seems a bit much.
Dave - I agree, AC asap, even up here in NH.

I think I can understand the 1 hour. If we have been driving all day when we hook up to shore power the charger will go into bulk mode charging for a while. Although you could run the AC and charge the batteries there is a chance that the load management system may kick off the AC since the charger is a higher priority the AC. Also if there is not a load management system in the coach you might trip the 30 amp breaker. If it is real hot sometimes I will turn off the charger so I can run the AC and then let the batteries charge once things have cool down a bit.

Dave,
Doesn't your engine alternator charge all the batteries??? It should. Alternator priority should charge chassis batteries first, then swap over to House batts.

Yes the Alternator charges the house batteries but I still find they want to go into bulk charge mode for about 30 to 45 min when we arrive after a full day of driving.
