Hello,
Just wondering if anyone else has experienced their water heater bypass valve leaking by while winterizing.
Returned from a trip recently and had to rewinterize and while doing so the hot water heater valve that you close so all the rv antifreeze doesn't go into your water heater was letting it leak by into the water heater eventhough it was closed. Use up a couple of extra bottles of antifreeze diagnosing the problem.
Since I didn't have another valve I filled the water heater back up with fresh water, placed the valve in bypass position and then charged each water line with the antifreeze. I then drained the water heater and I didn't notice any pink water as I drained it so the water heater must have been pressurized enough to hold back the flow through the leaky valve.
Got me through the process so I hope someone else can use this info if it happens to them. I'll order a new valve and replace in the spring or before the next trip
Letsgoagain
