How Much Transynd Fluid Needed.

I'm getting ready to change just the Main transmission filter and was wondering how much fluid I would need to replace doing this. Couple quarts or would I need more.

Thanks

Why not change both filters? Allison recommends changing them at 36 months anyway.

New high-capacity filters were released into production beginning with:

6510670912 6610205144 7110001551 6520067342 6620002521

3000 and 4000 Product Families Transmissions Elimination of Initial Filter Change Requirement
and Kit:

Transmissions equipped with Allison high-capacity filters do not require an initial main filter change at 5000 miles/8000 km/
200 hours. However, serial numbers prior to those numbers listed above, Allison Transmission requires the initial filter
change interval. An initial main filter kit (2 inch kit P/N 29540495 or 4 inch kit P/N 29540496) contains only one Gold series
filter and all necessary seals and gaskets to perform the first 5000 mile/8000 km/200 hour main filter change. These kits
have been completely cancelled. Once stock has been depleted, it will be necessary to order the high-capacity filter from
the Allison Parts Distribution Center.

Allison says you lose 2 qt with the main & 8 qt with the Lube filter. But I have changed both at the same time on my 3060 and lose was less then 2 qt.

Same here, I just swapped mine to the Transynd fluid and I only lost about 2 quarts from both filters. I was expecting the 10 qts.

Triker56: Serial number for HD3000MH transmission is 6510776049 which if I read your response correctly would have the high-capacity filter and would not require a main filter change at 5000 miles. If that's correct will wait and change it next year at which time I might have about 8,000 miles and it would be 3 years.

Trans Fluid

If you have a newer Allison Transmission you may have the Prognostics feature. This feature allows you to check oil and filter life and alert you when sevice is due. This allows you to avoid unnecessary oil and filter changes.

The numbers came from a PDF I saved that was on Allison web site They now have a newer one there.
Allison 3000MH Service PDF

Why Allison has to change filters at 36 months then change fluid at 48 months? Then they say with a fluid test you can go longer.

Looks like you are putting around 3,000 miles a year on it. I do almost the same and have changed my filter/fluid to 60 months for both.

But you are probably still under warranty and should change by the book.
Since you do your own. You should save all receipts for all filters/fluid bought.

I-LOVE-RAMBLIN: I don't believe I have this feature (Prognostics feature) how do you check this? Through the key pad next to the driver seat? My coach is an 09.

CALL ALLISON AND GIVE THEM YOUR TRANS SERIAL NUMBER. THEY WILL TELL YOU IF YOUR TRANS IS EQUIPPED WITH PROGNOSTICS. IF YOU HAVE YOUR COACH RV DATA SHEET IT GIVES YOU THE TRANS SERIAL NUMBER.
