HydroHot Setup

My bro-in-law just bought an '06 Executive with HydroHot. He says the manual confirms it won't operate on diesel unless there's 120 v present, either from the pedestal or generator. Last night, while boondocking, he had to run the generator all night to get any heat from the thing. I find this very strange, since my HH units always operated off 12v.

Can anyone confirm whether this is true?

Same here, but if I want to run both 2000 Watt elec elements I have to be on 50 amp shore power or run the gen.

HydroHot Setup

Mine also runs on diesel without 120v. What model is the hydro hot?
It may say it needs 120v to run on electric?

Are you sure it is a HydroHot and not an AquaHot? And it should run on 12 volt only for the diesel side.

NOT true!

There are lots of manuals about HIS Hydro-Hot unit HERE.

He needs to find out which model he owns first.

Have him download the correct manual for his unit and sit down to read it from cover to cover.

Then have him join Roger Berke's Hydronic Heating forum where he will learn more than he ever thought he could and recieve the very BEST information about his HH unit.

Bottom-line, the diesel Webasto burner runs on 12 VDC from his House batteries and the Electric Assist runs on 120 VAC either from shore power or generator power.

My bad! Mine is an Aqua-Hot 450DE, not a HydroHot. However, it does still run on diesel on 12 volts.
