Monaco Cayman '08 PDQ - there is an ICC switch on the driver's console. The book says it flashes all exterior lights once - and that would be handy for flashing for trucks to pull in, etc. The problem, mine has never worked. I wonder if it is hooked up? I don't see a fuse reference for this function. Can anybody help? Thanks.

If you are running a gasser that might not have ever been hooked up. I know that the ICC function does not work on the Workhorse.

FWIW On my Monaco Knight it only flashes the top lights. You have to look real close to see they are flashing. I don't think a trucker could see them flash. Monaco told me they do not flash the lower lights because it is illegal in some states.

You may find it only works when you have your headlights on....

I think mine is like that.. If the headlights are OFF, no effect

But with the headlights (Well marker lights, which means headlights or parking lights) it will flash 'em once per push.

This is usually done to thank a trucker for flashing his headlights to indicate it's safe for you to move back in the right lane after you pass him... Since I tend to drive 55-60.. I don't often pass semi's I do flash the headlights a lot though .

Our ICC only works when the running lights are on. I do wish that you could blink the high beams though without having your headlights on. Our last moho was on a Ford chassis and all you had to do was pull the turn signal lever back and they would flash. To me it seems like a distraction to have to look down on the dash, reach over and turn them on, wait for the vehicle to pass, flick the high beams a couple of times then look back down to turn the headlights off.

It is fairly easy to hook up a switch to do that if you want Steve... On a Workhorse you can tap in at the steering collum connector, apply 12volts with a foot switch and you got it.

To build a foot switch you need

Two flat pieces of wood, and two triangle shaped ones.

Assemble it so the wood forms a wedge, leave the top off the wedge, drill it for a stomp on switch from your favorite automotive place.

Now screw the bottom wood slab to the floor (note it needs only be rails if you wish)
Lay the top slab on top of the pair of triangles and screw it down.

Make sure it's where you can easily stomp on it and not where it will get in the way

Route wires. job done.

Retired from trucking industry of 39yrs, and never heard of "illegal in some states"! Did it all over the USA for 39yrs.

FWIW I agree OnJa, but that is what Monaco had for an excuse. I think they were referring to flashing lights to warn other drivers that a speed trap was ahead. Some cops will harass you for doing it.

For several years now the truckers have been activating their 4 ways as a "thank you" for giving them the ICC switch signal to cut back in. Some of them are even nice enough to give me the 4 ways when I (in the MH) give them the high sign. Many of them seem to be content to pretend you aren't there.
I like to have a bit of entertainment when surrounded by trucks on the interstate. I turn on the CB and listen to them bad mouth RVers!

Mack trucks used to have a 'long lever toggle switch' [mounted on top of dash within easy reach of driver] that was hooked inline with the lights and when tripped with toggle switch would merely "BREAK ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT" to lights causing them to flash the same amount of times the lever was pulled!

This is a very good method and can be purchased at your local auto parts store. It is a cheap method also.

Before retiring from the trucking industry [already planned on becoming an RVer] a fellow trucking friend and I were traveling between Spgfld, IL and St.L, MO and came upon a small group [4] of rvers traveling in the same direction. My friend and I had been communicating on the CB and he was a comical person when something inspired him. These rvers did just that.

I almost lost control from LOL so hard with what he let loose on the CB.

"CAMPER "1" to CAMPER "2""

I say that to myself everytime I come upon a group of rvers when we are traveling in our MH. ;-)
