On a 04 beaver Marqies the clear vinyl hose that attaches to the water feed for the ice maker by a female watering hose fitting and is located in the outside frig compartment. This is obviously the water feed for the ice maker and can be shut off with the "t" valve in the water pump compartment. The hose keeps springing leaks and I need to replace it. My question is where does the hose go from the point it enters the coach, from the frig compartment, and has to hook up somewhere to the "t" valve. I have some slack in both the top end and the end by the valve but when I pull on either end the other end does not move??? The currend leak is to far down on the upper end I can't cut and repair it. The entire hose needs to be replaced. I don't know how to thread a new hose into the coach without having some idea where it is supposed to come out. Very much appreciate any help.

Butch,

Sorry but I can't help on your coach but know that mine went through the floor and under the frig where the furnace is. You most likely have a completely different set up.

I am trying to think of a way to attach a new hose to the old one and try to pull it through the coach. Maybe glue a piece of wood inside each end of the hoses???

It's not a Beaver but ours runs from the water filter under the sink to the fridge. Took me a while to figure out where the second line out of the filter was going to. It actually runs down and under to the opposite side of the MH.

The majority of prior discussions on this subject that I remember reading indicated that most had to pull the fridge part of the way out to access the water line to the icemaker. Hope you luck out otherwise..

Your idea of inserting an object into the ends of the old and new hose is a good one. We do this all the time at our shop, (RV Service and Repair Center in Colorado). Meaning when we need to pull in a new wire, hose, etc. We bind the old and new together usually by just taping them together with a good grade of tape. It would be a good idea to remove some drawers, panels, and the like to locate where the line goes. Then when you pull it through and if it should come apart you've only lost a short section of the route.

In my own motorhome the hose is attached under the sink which is on the opposite side from the refer. The sink is in the kitchen slide so the hose makes the loop on the end where all the plumbing/electrical routes in and out of the slide. It then drops down under so I can pull off panels in the basement storage area and see where it crosses over. It then goes up through the area under the refer. In my case there is a large pull out drawer and you can see where the hose goes up through behind the drawer into the back of the refer area. Then of course it can be seen from the outside behind the refer. Many coaches have either a drawer or in some cases a furnace under the refer.

Just search it out, I think you'll find it isn't too difficult.

If you can access the hose as Bob says from under the frig I would just cut the plastic hose at that point and install fitting to connected to one of those ice maker hoses with the metal braid on the outside. The real problem with the plastic hose is that it is near the heat source in the outside frig access and it become brittle. The problem with attaching a new hose at the far end and trying to pull the new line through with the old one is that you have no idea how many clamps or tie warps may exist between the two points.

Butch,

I have a 2002 Diplomat and my line went from the valve on the back of the frig to a fitting in the furnace compartment below the frig. After several failed splices I got the braided stainless steel ice maker line in a 5 foot length. This line had the proper fittings on both ends and it was a simple job to replace. I think I had to enlarge a couple of holes and caulk them when I finished.

If the fittings are the same on the old and new lines, you can connect them with a close nipple threaded to both ends. Also whenever I pull any line I always pull an extra string just in case the one I am working on breaks. I usually use mason line (nylon string) and just leave it in place in case I need it in the future.

If you can pull the hose try this.

Take a new hose (hardware store) that is at least a foot too long and using a quality sealant glue a bit of theraded shaft into the end of it so that half the shave extends out.. you can use a wire tie to help hold it on.

The other end of the shaft goes into the old hose.

Use the old to pull the new through.

Option 2

Shove a wire (like 14ga stranded, insulated) throuugh the old hose then pull the old hose out.. now use the wire as a "Fish tape" to pull the new one through.. Use a lot of wire so that even if it fails to hold you will have wire stickign out the "Far" end of the new hose.
