Intelligence EMS Panel Issue

When I plug into 50 amp power my EMS only shows 30 amps. Is this normal?
This has been the case in several RV parks. I have killed the power to reset it.

If the RV park was only supplying power on one leg of the 50A service (i.e. something wrong in the 50A connection box) then RV will think your on a 30A service.

Is your EMS reporting incorrectly - or could the RV park be messing up? Maybe check the 50A service plug (supply side) with a voltmeter before connecting next time.

If you are resetting the EMS and then it reads properly, then I'd say its messing up and needs to be looked at.

I have repaired several pedestals that had a single phase connected to both legs on the outlet. I’ve also experienced this myself at several parks.

If you check both legs separately, they will both indicate 120v, but that does not indicate it’s wired properly. To check for proper 240v, check both legs together.

Ignore this if resetting it cures the problem.

The EMS is looking for 240 volts by sensing each leg. The sense wires are on 2 circuit breakers in your panel.

There have been a number of folks who have found that one of the circuit breaker, like the washing machine, was switched off.

Turn on all the breakers and give it a try.

That was it. The washer circuit breaker was off. I turned it on and it now shows 50 amps available on the EMS panel.
Thank You!
