Interstate Batteries, L-16HCS

This is MichBill. Thanks ahead of time for any guidance.
I have four of the above listed batteries in my 2009 Dyansty for the house. I contacted Interstate and they are on back order for 50 days. The lady I talked to said not to hold my breath. The battery lists, C250 Min @75A-420Ah. Does anyone have thoughts on an equlivent subsitute?
Thanks
Bill

Have you tried Costco? They carry Interstate batteries and would probably have the best price.

Do you do a lot of boondocking where you need the HUGH batteries ?

I opted to replace my L16's with trojan t105's about a year ago and haven't missed a beat with them - great batteries and half the price of the larger ones.

We went with Fullriver AGM L-16, and couldn't be happier. Cost a little more, but no more watering, and much lower self discharge.

Question do others may know too. Can you mix AGM and wet cell batteries? Meaning coach batteries AGM and chassis wet cell ? Reason for my question the EMS that directs charging rates to your batteries in the RV. They would be different types.

We had AGM for the coach and wet cell for the chassis for a few years, until the chassis batteries needed replaced. We then went with the AGM type there, as well. You are right. I don't recall the charging voltage numbers that apply, but I went with the charger settings for the AGM's. As you say, that is going to be the same for the wet cells, too, but my thought was that the AGM's were my far higher investment, and were also the most mission critical.

I did not have any problems with the AGM's, and I didn't have any adverse issues with the wet cell chassis batteries other than due to their age.

L-16 replacement

When my L-16 interstates died I switched to the Trojan brand have 6 years on them now, don't recomend going to the smaller 6 volt mentioned in above post, you would need at least 6 of those if not 8 and you don't have room in your 09 coach battery box.
Hope this helps, Carl

I replaced the coach batteries in our Exec with Trojan T-105's. They are one of the last batteries made in the US (other than Freedomline) and most folks report them lasting 10 years. These are deep cycle golf cart 6v batteries, so you have to link them in pairs. I purchased cables to go between the pairs on Amazon. The only trick is how to arrange them to minimize cabling (4 per drawer). I have a diagram if you decide to go this way.

Also, the Trojan setup ran our residential fridge much longer than the larger 4D batteries it previously had.

Actually Carl, the 4 t-105's do quite well, even with the res fridge, etc...

Since putting them on have never been low on power...

unless you do a lot of boondocking you should look a 2 8D batteries work good and a lot less connections and less expense too.

Does anyone have or have had the US Batteries 250 HC 280 AH ? They were recommended to me from a battery dealer in Denver. The 280 AH is a plus when I boondock and they are around $200 ea.

The dealer said they are a better choice than the Trojan T-105.

Trojan and Lifeline batteries are the last ones still made in the US.
If your coach came with a residential refrigerator, you should have two drawers with enough room for eight Trojan T-105 6-volts.
If it came with a Norcold propane refrigerator, you will only have one drawer for the house and can fit four Trojan T-105's. You can usually add a battery holder in the engine compartment or the small storage area just behind the battery drawers for another 2-4 batteries.

If you do not like servicing batteries and can afford it, Lifeline is the best choice. They are pricey, but they are the very best.
