Is a #M120108 Donaldson Muffler worth more

I need a new muffler for my 05 Signature, Cummins ISX engine.
Is a #M120108 Donaldson muffler worth that much more the other mufflers.
Wondering what mufflers other members have replaced there mufflers with?

I have crossed over to several other mufflers.
I was wondering if it is worth that much more than the Walker muffler and if any notices a difference in how loud it is with a different muffler?

Amazon has them for $242 plus $40 shipping.

Some folks are using less expensive mufflers. In the Cummins ISX 650 thread, Ron (08 Navigator) used an aftermarket muffler. He likes the sound.

I replaced my muffler with an Aero AT5050. It is a little louder but I've never had a comment on it. Lower back pressure/better flow than any of the alternatives. Bonus - it was only $170.

I did check with Cat who confirmed that my coach did not have a catalytic muffler.

As you can see in my signature I have a 5" diameter exhaust. What isn't stated is I have a straight through muffler. A lot lest back pressure...actually next to nothing. Turbos don't like back pressure. The only places I here it is under an overpass or driving next to a freeway wall. I'm pretty sure it's loud to anyone driving on the passenger side if it working pulling a grade. But you don't here it just driving.

That's odd that Cat would say that. All ACERT engines have a diesel catalyst converter.
But I don't think the engine will know or care whether or not you replace the muffler with a non-catalyst type though.

Well, I have found that a lot of information about my coach provided by outside organizations has been suspect. The RV contact number provided by Cat was not much better. They couldn't identify the correct muffler and sent me on a wild goose chase.

In any case, the Aero as worked fine, if the engine does care it is because the exhaust temps are lower at the turbo due to increased flow, and that makes it happy.

Aero and Jones both make stainless turbo mufflers. I replaced my bus-type rusted steel one a while back. My Jones turbo is admittedly louder but I expect it'll last longer and back pressure is reduced. For a DPF or DEF coach you may need to check if it can affect these systems.

I replaced the muffler on one of my past coaches with a Super Muffler that was going to increase my mileage and power my a bunch. The only difference I noticed was that my posture in the drivers seat was different because my wallet was thinner.

I do agree that I didn't notice much of a difference, but the OP said he needs a new muffler, as did I when I replaced mine.

While you are buying performance products I have some little magnets that you can put on your fuel injector lines and get 20% more power. They are easy to install and just clip over the lines.
