Is the outside coach grab handle, the clear Lucite one with "Holiday Rambler" emblazed on it , supposed to be illuminated when you turn the outside porch lights on? (2006 HR Admiral SE)

Our handle lights with the stairwell lights, not with the porch light. Might try that, hope it helps.

Thank you for yor quick response! The handle isn't illuminating at all, no matter what exterior light switch I turn on, so it looks like I'll have to replace a light bulb, Anyone out there done this before?

I'm not familiar with your particular rig but my coach didn't have the lighted handle but I installed a light in it and used a Monaco light. I'm sure it's just removing the three screws on each handle bracket and then carefully pulling them away from the surface. I used gasket material to make new gaskets but I suppose you can buy the HR gaskets or even use a clear silicone to seal the handles. I installed a lighted rocker switch to control just the handle light.

Good luck.

when mine went out I unscrewed the handle from the coach and the bulb was in the top of the handle. Easy to replace.

Did it ever illuminate or are you just trying to make it do so? On mine -it never did and I fooled around for a little while to se if I could make it do so...then I just figured it was too much trouble. Ours is a Winne 35-J and I don't think the Sightseers had that feature- only the Adventurer and higher line units had illuminated assist handles...this may be the case with yours. The DP's would more than likely.

I just got the rig 1 month ago and it has never worked but I have been made aware that is supposed to be illuminated. so it looks like I'll be replacing a bulb. thanks for your reply!

In 2006 I think illuminated handles were installed on HR Scepter or Monaco Camelot models and above. I know my 2006 HR Endeavor does not have one. There are a number of threads on how to add an illuminated handle. Take a look at the sticky Quick fixes and Mods.

Okay, thank you! I'll pull the handle off to confirm whether indeed it is equipped with a light. if not, then perhaps I'll add the light, i think is a great look!

Benny367.......I agree with itdave, the Camelot/Scepters and above had the ligted handles. I added a light to my Diplomat. Don't mess with trying to find an LED bulb for it. For $10.00, you can buy the bulb/socket and 10" of wire from Monaco. You'll have to drill through the coach wall and hide the wiring in the armrest area.

Remove the handle (At least the bottom "end" of it) and look down into the holder. (end cap) if there is an LED there then it should light up.. If not it won't.

Now, if it does not light up you can pull the "electroincs" (2 parts) out of the holder.

IF you are comfortable with electronics work you can get a new LED and a new Resistor (The other part is a resistor) at Radio Shack, assorted colors.. You will have to "Compute" the size of the resistor.. Replace both.. I drilled the hole in the reflector out a bit and switched to a JUMBO LED.

I found the resistor was 1/3 the value I needed so I hit up my "junque" box for the proper value, put it together and it's lasted for quite some time now. Way longer than the OEM did.
