I am sitting in a Campground in Alexandria MN. The campground has no cable TV hookups. It is June 2011 and the analog digital conversion should be giving me a blank TV picture, however, I am receiving 15 clear channels with my crank up antenna and the TV Ant air setting on my Wingard Model VS-064/6412 Amplified Video Distribution Center. Why?
It is a good thing that the Distribution Center Box is so hard to get out or I might have tried to install a Digital TV converter box. That would have cost me $50 and some frustration I am sure.
Is this a one time deal or is the force with me.

It sounds like you have a digital TV.

Looks like you got lucky and got digital tv turner in your 06 rig. Saves you 50 bucks or so plus the PIA of getting the magic box to work. Have a great day.

oops, since it is not a flat screen tv, I assumed it was analog or maybe the magic box has digital built in. Live and learn, I passed up a lot of RV parks that didn't have cable. Thanks for the reply. Not all of my questions are tough, but some are stupid.

I was considering adding satellite into my rig, however, i've received so many decent DTV channels where I have gone in my short time of ownership, I'm rethinking my decision! When I was in Toronto, Canada, I pulled in over 20 DTV channels including Buffalo!

That is strange! did not think they had the boxes in 06. Anyway we have an 06 and they are not digital but they are skinny flat screens. I was surprised when the analog went away and I had no TV on the ant, then a friend explained it to me, I had assumed that all skinny flat screens were digital. I installed the box from walley world and I get anywhere from 3-15 channels depending on where we are. I used the ant if I can not use the sat due to overhead cover.
Planning on changing out the TVs this fall to new ones and then I can get rid of the box. That little box puts out a lot of heat.

This is the answer from Monaco. I do get a signal on the rear TV. Oh happy day!

The front TV on your coach is Digital ready. The antenna and switch box are also compatible. I doubt that your rear TV would be able to pick up a signal though.

I have stayed in Alexandria,MN. a couple of times, I also have gotten lots of TV signals off the over air antenna, including the weather channel. Think a local rebroadcaster is resending signals, something to do with local goverment.
Are you at the Gun Club campground, that's where I stayed?

We are staying at the lakes Motel and RV Resort for the next two weeks. The rates are reasonable, I have relatives here, fishing is great and the temperature this morning was 63. The high for the day was 73. My home state of Louisiana was averaging 95 to 100 during early June. Besides, the lakes near New Orleans and Slidell have been polluted with muddy Mississipi River water from all the flooding up North. It will take several months for the brackish Gulf salt water to push back into the Lakes and bring the Red Fish and Speckled Trout back. So it time for Walleyes and Northern Pike.
