Is this too much money?
Hi, I have my coach in for repairs at RV Renovators in Mesa Arizona. I have some rot in my front LR slide. They told me $3,000.00 just to pull the slide out of the coach and more to fix the floor and seal where the leak was. That's almost 30 hours labor just to pull the slide out and get it ready to fix the rot. Does that sound right to you 30 hours?
Thanks for any input on this!

$100/hr is not cheap but that's pretty much normal now it seems.

I think he is asking about the number of hours.

Actually it's $110.00 per hour which is okay, my question is will it actually take almost 30 hours of labor to remove the slide?

Monaco quoted me about $3500 to remove in order to replace the 2 plastic runners of the bottom and re-install.
That quote seems high to me.

I think there is a decimal missing. I hope so anyway. (-:

30 hours to remove the slide a bit excessive.

Maybe that's the quote to remove it AND put it back ???? thinking he might want that too!
When I used to have my PC business back in the 80's when it was profitable and got too busy, (or really didn't WANT to do a job ) I always made it worth my time with high quotes. ya know, that supply and demand thingy we used to have in historic times !
And so, given the few number of shops we have around here, I have to pay the going rate when I want work done... good luck !

Thanks for all the replies. I didn't give it enough thought, but now that you mentioned... I have to consider having at least 2 people working to remove the slide and also to re-install the slide. So that would equate to at minimum 15 hours work for 2 mechanics. So it is what it is, as they say. I have confidence in these people from reading good reviews on the internet. If anyone is interested I'll post how everything turns out. Also Mark (service advisor) said he will take pictures as his mechanics proceed with all the things on my list of repairs thatI gave him.
Again Thanks to all!

Was this caused by water running under your sideout (down the rubber gutters) and then wicking into your floor? If so, same thing happened to me...I pulled back the fiberglass, blew all the rotten wood out with compressed air...filled the gap with expandable foam in a can and finally ran a line of deck screws along the bottom of the slideout floor and raised it above the edge of the slideout to keep water from splitting the edge again. This is common HR/Monaco issue that is why they installed that rubber gutter on the end of the slideout..but mine was about two inches short!
