I'm thinking about driving across the state to look at a '99 Diplomat. The seller swears it's got an ISC in it but every other one I can find online has the ISB. Was the ISC an option that year? If so the unit may be perfect for us as we'll be dragging a Jeep around the mountains of CO and the extra oomph of an ISC would be nice to have.
Thanks
Dave

No the ISC was a 2000 option, I had a 99 with the ISB and was completely satisfied with the ISB especially after I chipped it to a little over 300 hp, the 275 hp ISB is a darn good engine. I have never seen a ISC in a 99 or heard of one. Here is a link to Monaco 2000 Dip they no longer have the 99 listed, there is not much difference in the 2000 and the 99 except the ISC engine option and they offered a 40 dip starting in 2000. http://www.monacocoach.com/StaticFil...00Diplomat.pdf

Thanks Walt, that's in line with what I found searching for sale adds was hoping it was just a rare option.
Darn, I guess I'll keep looking, really kind of want the extra torque for our mountain passes. We'll be starting out at 7200' where we live and heading up from there, a 38 foot MH with another 5k lbs hanging off the rear will need all the help it can get.

Dave I really think you are under estimating the ISB engine and you can increase the torque and HP with a chip but you would need a exhaust temp gauge, just shift to a lower gear and keep the RPM up.

Quite possible, but we found an '01 Diplomat 38PBD with the ISC a bit farther away and a little more $$ but the wife likes the floor plan better and we all know what that means One nice thing about the financial climate these days, lots of choices if you're willing to drive and living in Durango you have to be willing to travel.

Super sounds good, one thing the 01 will have besides the ISC is a Sheppard M100 steering box, the 99 had a M80 that was a bit to light and the chassis was increased from 28,000 to 30,000 I believe.

Walt does your ISB have a 5 or 6 speed Allison Trans? If it is a 6 speed what speed do you do in order to get to the 6th gear overdrive? de Sanford

DE the 99 dip with the ISB does have a 6 speed 3060 Allison and our 99 would shift into 6 gear at around 58 mph it also has a button on the upper right that when mashed a red light comes on showing that you are in the ECO mode and that just means it shifts at a little lower RPM and wont hunt as bad in hilly terrain.
On our Dynasty it shifts into 6 gear at about 55 or 56 mph.

Thanks Walt...............My 2011 Cayman has a Allison 2500 transmission with 6th gear overdrive. Also has the ECO mode button. When the 2500 was first used in motorhomes it was only a 5 speed. Ours shifts into 6th gear at 62mph on more or less level roads. I just bought a new license plate frame that says "ZERO TO 60 DOWNHILL IN 45 MINUTES". The plate itself reads "SUMRHOM". Thanks again for the reply. deSanford The "de" before my name is from my Ham Radio experience. "de" means "from" a short hand morse code when signing.

De I didnt know the Allison 2500 was a 6 speed, I went to the Monaco site and downloaded the 11 Cayman info and was surprised what a nice coach and is loaded with standard features, Congrats on a super nice coach.

Thanks Walt.......it came with the last 6 cylinder diesel engine that Cummins made that doesn't require another tank for EPA clean air requirements. AKA cow piss. Caterpillar now is making the engine blocks for the Navastar diesel engines going into Monaco Motorhomes. Navastar engines don't require an additional tank for the catalytic exhaust unit. deSanford
