Hello,

I am shopping for a new motorhome and have really liked what I've seen in the Diplomat. I'm looking at 08 leftovers since Monaco dropped the alumiframe superstructure for the 2009.

But I have read of twisting, flexing resulting in windshield pops.
How prevalent of a problem is this with Monaco products?

safe travels,
John

John we had a 99 dip with jack leveling and the older coaches with slide outs did have a bit of a problem but was addressed with proper leveling technique on coaches with jacks, Monaco Finlay settled on park in spot, extend slide, blow air down and level, then reverse to leave crank coach air up,jacks up, slide in. I think any coach with slides will give trouble in a really bad out of level spot.
I never had another problem once I started this procedure.

Is this the reason my owners manual (2000 Beaver)insists on extending slides before leveling? I couldn't figure out why it was important and I have read other brands of coaches do it the opposite.

I haven't had any windshield problems but I don't use it much yet either. I met an owner of a slightly older one who had 8 pop outs, 4 for each side.

John,

I have not seen too many windshield problems reported on late model Diplomats. I have seen several problems reported on Camelots and some other models on the forums. I've had an 07 Dip for 18 months and have had no windshild problems (even though I did break a seal on the front jack for having the coach too skewed while jack was fully extended - my fault but PowerGear did replace seal kit under warranty.)

As for leveling procedure, there are some things you can do to help prevent damage to the large one piece windshield. See my comments here.
