Jake brake floor pedal switch activated
1999 Monaco Signature
I have a toggle switch with a 2 stage setting 1 and 2
Its worked flawlessly until today.
As we were coming North of Cincinnati I noticed that when I applied the pedal the cruise didnt shut off.
Now
The jake brake will not engage.???
Have any of you ever experienced this issue with the oor switch or other cruise control system .
Thank you very much for your assistance.
John

I don't know how they wired up the cruise on your Monaco but on a car I'd be looking for an electric switch on the brake pedal arm and testing it. Usually the cruse will share the brake light switch. As you apply the brake and the brake lights come on that is the same point where that switch should kick the cruise off. Have you checked to see if the brake lights are working ?

Without a wiring schematic to trace power supply to the switch , as kiss4afrog , says fuses and power to the switch are the first places to check , not just brake light fuse , but ALL chassis fuses.

If I am remembering correctly, I think you have to turn off cruise control for Jake to work, your brake pedal will turn off cruise but I think cruise cancels Jake.IMHO

Thank you all very much.
We left the rest area South of Columbus where I posted this thread.
The pedal switch worked and activated the Jake brake.
I manually turned the cruise off each time. Or I hit the coach brake pedal.
And that kicked off the cruise.
???? Maybe that is how its always been? But I don't think so.
We got to Cardinal center campground about 4 pm and set up.
So I am just reading your responses this am. Again thank you.
Its 5:30 am and dark out so I pushed the coach brake pedal and can see the brake lite glowing in the dark.
I hit the Jake pedal and nothing.
I also tried with the key on position
No brake lights.
With your help I know where to start looking.
I will pull the wiring diagram and go from there.
Cleaning the contacts is in the works also.
John
Appreciate your efforts good and advice

Can you clarify?
You said at 5:30 you pushed the brake pedal and could see the brake lights working.
Then a few lines down, you said "No brake lights".
So are you saying the brake lights worked once then stopped working?
If so, I would start troubleshooting by checking for a failing brake light switch - or loss of power to the brake light switch.

Sorry for not being clear
The brake lights worked when I pressed the coach air brake pedal.
I have a floor mounted , left foot jake brake switch.
When I pressed it down the brake lights
Did not come on.
I suspect that is the issue. The conectors or wiring from the floor mounted jake brake
switch to the steering column brake light switch.

The coach air brake pedal continues to activate the brake lights.
The jake brake switch , floor mounted switch doesnt.
It also doesnt void the cruise control.
Like the coach air brake pedal does.
So I think I have an issue with the floor mounted jake brake switch pedal.

Good that you posted pictures because most that reply really didn't know what you were talking about. I have the same set up as you but never had a problem so I cant help any. Just wanted others understand you are not talking about the coach service brake. Good luck, Jim

OP, your memory is correct as it should turn the cruise off. On my 04 Dynasty I would tap it to turn the cruise off instead you using the brake pedal. My “new to me“ 08 Navigator did not have a foot switch and once you’ve had one, you want another SO I added one. It’s been a year ago and my memory is not as good but the wires from the foot switch are going to the area around the Hi/Low switch (1/2). You should be able to check the operation of the foot switch there which is were I’d start. Pretty sure the switch is normally open so you can check the operation with the key off.

Thank you very much.
That narrows it down.
You all have been a very big help, and encouraging.
