JC Refrigeration installed Residential Conversion to Norcold 1200

Went through Indiana last week and scheduled appointment with JC Refrigeration to have a 120V residential conversion installed on my Norcold 1200. What an awesome experience. I had an 8 a.m. appointment and was on the road my 10:15 a.m. They did an awesome job of installing and cleaning up, not to mention the refrigerator works great. The fridge is an 35 degrees and the freezer at 0 degrees on setting 3.

If you are having issues with your Norcold gives these guys a call. The do great work.

Glad to hear it! We had the Amish cooling unit installed at JC Refrig in the old Dutch Star. This was about three years ago and we were done by 4 pm. By your experience, they must have the installation down to a real science now.

JR is a good guy and they have a good company. I had a 120V unit installed by JC but my existing control board was not compatible and the new board purchased was not as well. If anything weird can happen, it will happen to me.

I have a "hybrid" controller that JR came up with to run mine so it was not a total success for me. I am glad to have a safer/colder fridge that I can leave on while parked in the shop without fear of fire.

The JC is a good way to get a much better/safer fridge if you want to keep the "old Box"...

What is approximate cost of this. My Norcold is working fine at this point but don't like the fire thing.

Now the shipper's tracker says the shipment is damaged after being delivered a day late at the installers business. The installer says they received it but didn't say there was any damage...It seems sometimes you have to be tested, tested and tested...

I installed their cooling unit in my Dometic in the '02 DSDP. What I found was that I should have just replaced it with a home unit. Turned out the door gaskets were bad and the only way to replace them was to buy new doors.

We did the self install kit from them (JC Refrig) as well. That kit is awesome, works great.

What you don't read much about though is the other problems the NeverColds have related around the doors... the door gaskets as Mr D mentions and the door hinges. Which if you have either problem come up, is suppose to involve replacing the door at over $400 minimum each. The gaskets are part of the door itself and the hinges have a bit more plastic in them for parts than they should. We epoxied our hinge that broke back together instead of replacing the door, and 5 months so far and its holding strong. But still, its like a never ending thing with the Nevercold's once you have it cold and more fireproof!

I saw a trick from an RV service guy on the door seals. Use a hair dryer on the seals to heat them up and they will go back to their original shape. I haven't tried it yet but will be this week. Also clean the seals, top, bottom, and seal surface.

Well the second unit was installed yesterday afternoon and I started it today at 4:30 PM. After two hours it was at 62 from 81. After almost 5 hours it's at 62...I have a very bad feeling. the high today was 102 and it's still 90...I guess I will have to wait until morning to see if this one works. If it doesn't I don't know my next step yet because I live in this full time and still work in phoenix.
