Getting ready to become Monaco owner. We're trying to decide between an 06 Camelot or 07 Diplomat. There's not much difference between mileage or money so I guess the features is what it would boil down to. We are leaning towards the layout of the Diplomat so is there that much more features in a Camelot that would steer us that way?

Would appreciate any and all info as our decision will be made in a day or two???

The 06 Camelot has a higher Gvwr than the 07 Dip. The front axle is a 14,600 instead of the 13,000.
Side radiator instead of rear. Better engine access.
Higher initial cost on Camelot although in todays market, that may not be any kind of factor, but may change in the future.
Larger tires on the Camelot, probably more CCC
A/C drain tubes, not on Dip
Possible hydro hot???

Just curious...Where are you looking ? It might be nice to be able to compare the two units for you.

06 vs 07? If one has the 07 "smog engine" and the other doesn't, that would make a difference to me.

We've had both a rear radiator coach and our current side radiator Camelot. The side radiator allows really good access to the engine. with a rear radiator, you can't even see the engine.

The Camelot has more weight carrying capacity. We recently had our coach weighed at the Tucson rally. In full travel mode, we are almost 4000 lbs below our maximum vehicle weight - a nice margin to have.

If the prices for the two coaches are comparable, I would definetly go with the Camelot.

The Camelot would also have a solid wood interior as standard and I don't think the Diplomat had solid wood even as an option. I would also take the Camelot over the Diplomat if price was the same.

07 Dip is @ gtwrv.com in colorado & 06 Cam is @ giantrv.com (wildomar lot) in california. we've been dealing figures over ph & have them very close to each other. Would love to know your opinions.

We are fulltiming so we've been leaning towards the Dip only due to "more room". We realize the Cam is "higher end" but seems less storage, Although IT DOES HAVE THE DESK WE WANT/NEED? Cam is prettier & real wood as WOMPS mentioned. Geez if we could have the Dip layout with the Cam color swatch & desk.....Ahhhh, the perfect RV for us. Does anyone know where that coach is???

The Giant website does not give much info...I would suggest you look at the DeMartini inventory and contact Tim or Jon before you make any deals. I feel you can get a better deal from them.
FYI- The Dynasty model is better than the Camelot. The Windsor is equal or better... The Scepter is equal to the Camelot. The Endeavor is equal to the Diplomat...plus DeMartini has a very high customer satisfaction rating -

Give them a call!

PS..Tell them MonacoMama told you to call ...It might get you a bigger discount!

If the price and mileage was the same, or close I would opt for the Camelot. However, with that being said (as MM pointed out) if you could find a nice Dynasty in the same ball park I would go that route. The Dynasty (in my opinion) is the best value for the money, you can get a lot of the same options that come in the Signature at a lot less money....There are still alot of good buys out there if you are willing to look for them.

I think the importance of side radiator is being overstated, I have had both a 99 dip with the rear radiator and the Dynasty with the side radiator and I see nothing wrong with the Dip if that is the coach you want. I would have no problem going back to a Dip.
