I have a ESSEX keyless on my 2005 Holiday Rambler and the 9 on the keypad doesn't work. I called ESSEX and they told me I would have to buy a new one as the keypad is not repairable. The system also has two remotes that do work, so that is what I use. I don't think it is worth the money to buy a new keypad.

I also had trouble with my keypad from Essex. I had to push very hard to make it work. My warranty covered the replacement of just the keypad. On the receipt it stated the keypad cost $199 for parts direct from Essex. The keypad just plugged in under the passenger armrest, then they programmed it. All is well now.

Dave....do you have a part number or any info on your keyless pad? I would like to add one to my 05 Safari Cheetah. Dick

We have a model 1603, which has been discontinued, but have had no problems with it.
Dick1142... it is not as simple as adding a keyless pad. You also have to add the main controller, solenoids on each compartment door, the main door solenoid and all the wiring unless it was included from the factory.

Thanks for the info. I am just looking to put one on the entry door. Didn't know they also had one for the compartments, but can see where that would be nice. Dick

Ours got really bad in cold weather. The keypad got harder to use as the temps went down. Essex replaced it under the two year warranty but the new one hss done the same thing. I wish there were a direct replacement that was more reliable than the current setup.

Trimark told me that they have a keypad that will replace the Essex. I didn't want to spend the money at the time but if I fix the keyless I will install the Trimark.

Same here, including covered by extended warranty. Warranty now expired, and I am VERY NERVOUS.
My view on RVs - designed by idiots, built by drunks, sold by liars. If you are lucky it will be repaired by an honest man.

we have replaced the keypad twice. Essex located near Santa Barbara is no help. Just buy a new one for $200 thank you, The good news is it is real easy to install with no programming necessary. A 10 minute job at most.
