Leaking drivers side window

Drivers side window seems to be leaking at the top as water is dripping on the inside from the channel where the screws go through to secure the window in place. I had a similar leak back in 2010 and just tightened all the screws and the leak stopped. Now that the leak is back and the screws are as tight as I can get them I suspect it is time to remove the window and reseal.

My question is what did Monaco/HR use to seal the window originally? Is there a gasket or just sealant? Has anyone ever removed this window and is it a problem to do so? I am thinking I need to do this right rather than just slobber sealant all over the top outside frame edge.

Often it's butyl rubber tape. Also inspect the seams above between the fiberglass cap and RV roof, and clearance lights and antenna. All places water can leak in.

Monaco used what ever was handy but in most cases they used the grey sticky putty sealant that you buy in rolls, I would replace with a good black sealant that comes in a tube.
Bob also has a point, check the roof with the slide out to see if the slide out awning is pulling the wall loose from the roof cap if so that is not a big deal and easy to fix just post back and I can give you a file on procedure.

Brian,
Check where the plastic molding terminates on top of the window. On my coach, water was channeling behind this molding and running into the window flange. I pulled the screw, pulled the plastic molding up, and sealed the area behind it real well with Proflex. It stopped the leak.

Good luck.

Roy

Remove the window. The gasket was the same ribbed rubber used for the slide seals. Removed old deteriorated rubber and used butyl rubber tape as a gasket. Of course I won't know the outcome until it rains but it looks good.
