Leaking waste valve

The cable operated waste water valve in myt 2000 Holiday Rambler Vacationer steadily drips. Pretty sure that it is the grey valve that leaks. I can't figure out how to get access to the valve to try to stop the leak or replace the valve. , it is out of reach in the compartment. There is a panel in front of the valves that may have to be removed, but it has numerous water line connected to it and not sure how that would work. Has anyone faced this?

If you loosen the panel, the plumbing might have enough slack to move it so you can reach the valve. You might also try some detergent and Calgon Water Softener in the tanks to loosen anything that might prevent the valve from closing. You might also try a sewer cap with a hose fitting to try back flushing the valve to dislodge anything preventing it from closing all the way.

Your talking about the guillotine valve? If so replace it. It has 4 bolts. Easy fix. Replace both.

If you go to the opposite side of the coach from the water bay and open that compartment and remove the metal plate you can slide up into the bay and access the valves on the other side. Not as hard as it sounds.

I just swapped both of mine. Gross, nasty job but FAR better than the damn leaking black water valve I had put up with since we purchased it.

Thanks to all for the info. Behind the plumbing door is a half panel. The two dump handles, switch for a light and 3 different plumbing fixtures come through the panel. The dump valves are far enough behind this panel I can't reach them and will have to remove the panel to reach them. Part of the problem is that on this coach, ( that's what my friend who has a big, expensive, DP calls his, "The Coach:"), the bathroom is on the opposite side from the dump valves. On a different note, the head doesn't hold water and it looks like the mechanism for the Thetford Starlight cost more than a new Toilet! Any justification for replacing this instead of just buying a new one?

Pretty sure you can just replace the seals.

seal kit

Thanks for your post. In previous searches, I was only able to find the entire mechanism, which is expensive. I looked more closely and was able to find the kit for less than %$0. Thanks for your help.
