Leaky front windshield

2005 Monaco Cayman. Water drips down the inside of the windshield when driving in rainey weather. I had it looked at by windshield repair people. They tell me the seals are loose because the windshield is "racked", caused by the motor home being torqued. To fix, they want to remove windshield and reseal, costing around a thousand dollars. They said sometimes the windshield can crack during the process, which they would not be responsible for.

HELP!

The thousand sounds high but perhaps they have to replace the trim around it as well. As for the possibility of it it cracking yes its possible thus the warning. I'd get some more estimates if I were you.

My personal experience is that it probably is not "racked" because it is a two piece windshield. The center divider allows the windshield to flex.

Had the same problem with leaking on both sides of the windshield. Solved it with the application of Urethane primer and Urethane caulk applied around the perimeter of the windshield. This was recommended and performed by the RV Fog Doctor several years ago.

There’s a guy in the Tampa area that comes out and reseals them. He did a great job on mine when it was trying to pop out in the driver’s top corner. Less than $200 I seem to recall.

In agreement with the last two. The split windshield on mine after replacement developed leaks from voids in the sealant that occurred from movement. All that was needed was resealing with the correct material. To do it correctly they did pull the molding and reapply it. They warned against trying to remove the glass to reinstall. It was almost certainly to crack.

I would be looking for another glass repair, I had it done for about $150. Hard to believe that it would cost around a thousand
