Leaky jack reservoir

We have a 2007 Diplomat with Powergear jacks. The tank for fluid has started to leak. Monaco is unable to help, they are using a different system. Thanks much for any help

My unit was leaking and was replaced at the factory in Indiana prior to its closing. Additionally, they installed a support bracket under the new reservoir to help eliminate future leaks. I was informed that not all 2007 units were modified with the support bracket prior to them being sent to dealers.

Where is the leak? Could you post some pictures of the tank and the area of the leak?
Is the leak in the tank wall or at a fitting point?
Parts my be available from power Gear or a hydraulic supplier.

Dick.

I have a 2007 Scepter that had the same problem. Mine had a broken seam between the tank and pump. Replaced by Monaco under warranty, but I had another problem with leaking. The tank had little support and would spill fluid out of the weep hole. Shop built a support for tank. You might try searching this site, I think there were a number of photos posted of supports.

Good Luck.

Same thing happened to my 07 Dip, Called my favorite RV Service tech at home base in PHX he ordered the tank, replaced it and a support kit for $250. Charged it to extended warranty. Stress crack in the neck of the tank, don't install a new one without some type of support.

Mine developed a leak also, at the stepdown neck to the pump. I took mine off and welded it, a lot cheaper than a new tank. Then I built a support for it.

Thanks much for the response. I had supported this tank after noting poor stabilty, but it is leaking now between the mounting neck to the pump and tank. What type of weld did you use to fix the problem? Braised, or electric weld or gas. George S.

If you look close you can see where I welded mine, at the neck. I used a MIG.

Any tricks to welding the tank? The guy I took my tank to didn't want to weld it because he said he might damage a baffel or something in side...

Once you drain and remove the tank you will see if there is a baffle in it. Mine had none, I doubt if there is a baffle in any of them, but I could be wrong. Welding it is very simple, baffle or not, and nothing dangerous about it. But you do have to remove the tank to get all the oil out of it. All welders are cautious when welding on tanks, or they should be. That being said once you know what was in the tank, Hyd Fluid, it's not an issue at all. Welding is a LOT cheaper than a new tank and with a support the problem should not occur again.

I recently posted about the same problem. I removed the tank and had a buddy weld up the connection between the tank and the smaller neck. We also braced the tank with 1/8" steel and a strap. So far, so good.
