LED Headlights
Hi All,
We own a 2009 Monaco Dynasty Regal IV. I changed out the original headlights and replaced with LED from M4 Products (per Monaco parts for a Ford F250 headlight). I could not get then to toggle between HI and LOW so M4 sent a "decoder". It allowed me to toggle however, the hi beam indicator light remained on in either hi or low. They sent another and I was back to not being able to toggle. Has anyone had this problem changing to LED's? Anyone have any suggestions?
Thank you
Bill

LED
The manufacture should have informed you that switching to LED and HID is not like changing from anything else. LED's use much less power. So much less, that many vehicles of any type cannot use them without some sort of modification to the wiring system. BEST but costly; take it to a vehicle electrician (not just any mechanic will do). WORST and cost less but may cause major electrical damage; trial & error, read up on your vehicle's electronic diagrams, google, etc. (LED's typically need some type of resistor in line to work proper with a 12 or 24 volt system). WARNING: in case you have never done this before, Black is not always ground and red is not necessarily 12v. Sorry for the bad news.

You can buy extra bright reg bulbs. Used for off road but will work in standard socket. Just dont tell anyone[emoji12]

Haven't done it in the rv, since I do all I can NOT to drive it after dark (for the bug cleanup more than anything ) but just switched out the bulbs in our explorer sport to led bulbs and even using the same reflectors it worked out great !

Could you let me know how you resolved this issue? Also did the change to LED improve your nighttime driving?
I am disgusted with my OEM headlights. They offer very poor light, but I seldom drive at night. I intend to replace them, but haven’t decided with what. Any recommendations are appreciated.

I have an '03 beaver with lots of Monaco stuff on it, so my info may or may not help. I installed led bulbs also. they appeared the same hi or lo beam, so I got my test light out and discovered that both hi/lo wires were energized while low beams were on, but the hi beam wire voltage was low. My guess it was not enough to light the filament in the standard bulbs hi circuit. I went into my electrical cabinet and ran a new power wire from the high beam circuit to a relay using it as the switch wire. Then I ran the new hi power hi beam wire to the headlight. I think that the led is so efficient that a little voltage lit up both the low and high beam. I also used this circuit to turn on some PIAA Pencil beams mounted under the front of the coach.

Terry, Thank you for the information. It's funny a friend of mine who is an RV tech. suggested something similar this past weekend.
Thanks. Bill
