Pulled the MH out of the barn and extended one slide and now can't get it to retract or extend the other slide and generator is also on hydraulic slide which is were the pump is at. Will work on opening generator slide manually.

I can hear the solenoid click when I hit the switch to run the slide but no action. Voltage at the solenoid is 14volts. No loose wires is there a way to bypass and apply voltage directly to pump?

Is there fuse for the pump?

Help, was planning to go with MH on rally tomorrow.

Ken,
Here are some schematics for your pump wiring that might help you trouble shoot your problem.

Have you tried it with the generator running? The pump motor is just like a starter motor and if the battery cables are dirty or loose you will just hear the solenoid click like a Chevy starter but it can't give you high amps. Before you start tearing everything apart check and make sure the insides and outsides of the battery cables are clean and make sure they are tight. Like I said also try moving the slides with the generator running.

Ok diagnosed the problem, motor full of oil. To get to the generator and hydraulic pump I had to disconnect one end of the hydraulic cylinder that operated the slide for the generator compartment then I could pull it out and get at the pump.

Fortunately I had my old Lippert pump which I replace a year ago because it was leaking and the motor still worked so I just swapped the motor to get me by this 4 day trip. When I get home will rebuild the leaky pump so it doesn't destroy good motor. Also plan to call Lippert to see if they will honor the warranty on this pump since it only lasted about a year. Also will try and clean up the problem motor and see it that's salvagable.

Just got off the phone with Motion Industries and ordered the seal for the pump. Seals will be here next Tuesday. Using Happycarz's info on rebuilding the unit I was actually able to get the 10 22 8 size and didn't need to go with the slightly thinner seal a 10 22 7.

Question for Happycarz, how is your pump holding up since you rebuild yours? Any leaks? My new unit from Lippert only lasted a year before it took a dump so until I'm comfortable I plan to carry a spare seal and maybe even the pump.

Talked to Lippert and initially they told me the unit was out of warranty but then they came back and said they'd send me one as a goodwill gesture. Glad they did the right thing my only concern is the issue surround the leaking seal and how long it will be before it starts to leak again.

I receied a letter from Monaco a few weeks ago asking that I take my coach in and have the LCI hydralic unit checked out per LCI informational bulletin 0213. This bulletin states that there is a defect in certain LCI pumps in operation in certain 2009-2011 LCI hydralic units installed on Monaco Motorhomes. They say the unit may fail due to a defect in the mating of the pump to the manifold. They say the defect will cause a failure of a seized motor and/or oil leaking through the motor. I had my dealer check my unit per LCI's instuction to them and they say it checked out OK. It appears you aren't the only one having this promblem.

Ed thanks: If you have a copy of that bulletin is there a way you could scan it to this thread? Would love to see what they say. If the problem existed between 2009 to 2011 then my replacement they sent me in 2010 probably was still one of the bad ones. Keep and eye on your pump cause each of mine worked for about a year before the leak started. I hope they fix this as it is a pain if the pump fails when the slides are out and your traveling.

Interesting about the 2009-2011 units failing at the seal. My coach was built in May 2007 and the Lippert pump is dated 04/03/07. And, the seal failed, along with many others with the same issue.

Ken,
Mine is still holding up with 38,000 miles on the coach. I resealed it in October '09 and had 24,000 mile on it at the time. I do have a spare seal with, just to be on the safe side.

When my seal failed, Lippert sent me a whole new unit and told me they knew of the seal failure and that this new design had the seal issue corrected....Now I'll be inspecting this thing again....

Ditto on getting a new unit, but since my failure was an early one, I had to fight to get it. I AM glad however that they finally issued an "informational" bulletin about this. For those who don't know, occasionally check the end of your hydraulic pump's electric motor for an oil drip. That is the main "tell" of an impending seal failure between the pump and the electric motor that drives it. You may get smoke or you may pop the 150 amp DC breaker, it may just quit or any of the above.

My slide outs are HWH ( except for one that is electric) so I am assuming the pump is also HWH. Did Lippert make the slide out mechanisms in your units? Mine is a 2008.

I think the pump I just replaced the seal is of the new design. It was installed 12/16/10. The difference in my pump and the detailed instructions on the seal replacement is that mine has a C-clip holding the seal in. But, my issue was the seal leaking, not the seal staying in place.

Thanks to Harry's instructions, I replaced the seal in my Lippert pump right after Harry did his and it's still holding up. My coach was built at the same time Harry's was but I don't have the pump mfg. date. I also carry a spare seal thanks again to Harry.
On edit: I might add that the old leaking seal was hard as a rock and was broken in two pieces when removed. The new seal was soft and plyable when inststalled.
