I have a 2004 Monaco Cayman and am trying to find the location of the sensor on what I'm told is the secondary water system, I assume for the generator. This sensor would cause the "CHECK ENGINE" light to come on. The Check Engine light came on and has stayed on and the mechanic has found the cause to be this sensor, problem is we can't find the sensor on the chassis. Does anyone out there know of this sensor and its location? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Larry

It is really difficult to decipher your post since you first talk about a "secondary water system" and it involves the generator, which by the way does NOT have a "Check Engine Light" that I know of but your Cayman may be different.

Truthfully, if I had a mechanic working on my coach, I would sincerely hope that he knew enough about my coach before working on a problem in that HE should be the one that would know where the sensor is located.

Frankly, I am assuming a lot of information when writing the following opinions that I have. When referring to the "Secondary Water System", you are most likely talking about the Primary and Secondary Diesel Fuel Filters. The primary filter usually has a collection bowl on the very bottom and the secondary filter has an electrical connection that will alert you to possible water in the fuel. Are you referring to this sensor on the bottom of the secondary fuel filter?

Based on your post and the way it was written, it is very difficult to come up with specifics as to a possible solution.

Thanks for your reply Richard and you're absolutely right about the post, I could have worded it much better and gotten my facts right. I was taking the wording of a friend, who obviously doesn't know as much as he thinks, vs. the mechanic that called me a short while later to tell me he'd found the sensor, about half way up the frame. I asked about the water system and it was explained to me the "correct" way. Long story short, the mechanic says my unit is now ready to hit the road and that it runs like new. The previous owner evidently didn't do any preventive maintenance, just had whatever fixed when it broke. Several things were done two of which were a replacement air filter (was in bad shape) and a fuel filter that was about 75% clogged.... no wonder it ran so poorly and hardly climbed a hill.

I also called the friend and asked him where he got the info he gave me and was told it had been passed down from someone else... after re-reading my post I can believe that! I set my friend straight w/o making an enemy and am just happy the coach is now running so good.

Again, sorry for the confusing post, I mean well but that doesn't go far in this case. Thanks for at least answering the post, it gave me something to ask about and info to set my friend straight.

Larry
