Locked In/Out of RV

Hi all...2000 Monaco Dynasty....Trimark keys....

Coach front door always needs to be pulled to the last 1/16 of an inch until it locks....similar if you want to open it.. Today that didn't work. Locked out and locked in....

Put up ladder to rear window and crawled in....after putting 55 lb puppy dog ahead of me.

Can't seem to locate a repair service in Naples....frustrated and tired right now...

70 year old duffer needs a cat nap....

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Common Trimark problem using pot-metal for the plunger. HAve to take the inside cover off and pry it back with a screwdriver. Then replace it with one where the plunger is made of steel.

Have began to have the same problem with or 07 Dynasty. When we are on the road, we can get locked in or out. It Ďappearsí that the handle does not move enough to unlatch the door. We have found out after we level the coach, the problem goes away. So we have a problem. I have greased the door pins and the latches, which has helped.
My fix should be to adjust the pins or door latches, just havenít yet figured that out yet.

Pat, this is a frequent problem with these doors. It happened to us once and I cut a hole in the door so it could be adjusted quickly. Here is a PDF file on adjusting the door and a photo of what we did to our door for quick access to the adjustment.

Remove the inside door handle cover, you should be able to move the rod to open the door.

Here's where I sit:

I was able to get in through the bedroom window emergency exit. If anyone was watching I'm sure that they got a good laugh seeing me lift our 55 lb dog through the window.

Door was locked SOLID. That night I removed the small access plate covering the inside door handle. I removed the handle and was able to pry the connecting rod far enough to open the door. I went back to bed a happy camper.

I then downloaded the instructions and diagrams and studied them thoroughly. The next day I removed the 2 latch bolts and found that they were corroded and did not move freely. One of them had 2 washers, the other did not have any washers. Today I am going to Lowes to get 2 more washers and put it back together. I also used a spray on oil that turns to grease (from Kwikee Steps). I noticed that both the upper and lower latch both open at nearly exactly the same time. I am hoping that when I put it back together that all will work as designed. I will let you know what happens.

My problem was a screw (for the magnet on the door frame) had backed out just a little. When finally realized what was holding the door closed, used some good glue to keep screw in. Also removed small amount of the door frame, so that if the screw did back out some, door would still open. Keep an eye on that screw!!

Got it working and it works great. The top latch was missing 2 washers which I picked up at Lowes (26 cents). Lubricated both latches and mechanism. Made sure that both latches moved freely. Put it back together and held my breath. I works great....thanks for the encouragement and the schematics.....

Any video of you and the dog going through the window that you'd want to share?

I don't even use that lock on our coach anymore. I installed one of these August Bluetooth locks on the deadbolt. We now can use our iPhones to open the coach door. You can also get a remote keypad to mount outside the entry door if you want. It's also great for monitoring the lock status of your entry. How many times have you been in bed ready to nod off to sleep and you snap up out of bed and wonder if you locked the coach door? I just pick up my iPhone and check to see if it is locked using the August app. If it isn't locked, you just push the button on the app to lock it.
