Any observations about how a 2004 Diplomat 40PST might work for a newbie to Motor Homes? I'm about to sell our 36' Alpenlite 5th wheel as the fever is upon me for a bus. The rig in question has 13,000 miles and is reasonably equipped. Really looking for anyones comments on reliability and whether a $4k extended warranty (3yr/30,000mile) is worth it.
Much Thanks

I (for one) have used my warranty quite a bit, but on an older coach. I think they are over pricing that one though. We paid just over $3500 for 4-years/40K miles with a $50 per visit deductable and zero dedyctable at the selling dealership. The selling dealership failed to tell me they only worked on the coach body and components and nothing engine-related.

Haymaker if the coach is sound and priced right go for it. That warranty seems very high, try Warrenty experts . do a google search.

Haymaker-
First-Welcome to IRV2! As far as the 2004 Monaco...I think the floor plan is very livable and you will enjoy it.
The extended coverag- well...I don't think I would pay that much for it...but I am think I would probably want one. Definitely check the suggested one listed above

Put away that 4 grand and use it for your extended warranty. I bet you come out way ahead.
A 2004 Dip. with that low mileage is still as new. Yet its been used a bit to keep lot rot out of it.
It a great choice, wish it was mine.

We traded a 2004 Diplomat for a 2007 Essex at Howard RV. It had about that mileage. We loved that coach. It's a solid performer. There were a couple of light bulbs that we replaced and that's about it.

Like you it was the first coach we ever had. It has an excellent floor plan - very livable. We wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

On the warranty, you can do much better on the price and terms. I recently go a quote on my '00 Dip from rvprotection.net for a 4yr/48K mile $50 deductable plan for about $1500 less than what you were quoted. I would check with Monaco on any recalls on the coach and make sure they have been performed. Some Diplomats had a problem with the radiator and transmission cooler. The trans cooler is in the radiator and a leak would occur allowing coolant to get in the transmission fluid, ruining the transmission.

What is the roof construction on the 2001 and up Monaco coaches. I saw a few that I could get interested in.
What HP do they change to a side radiator.
Thanks for replys, have never really looked at the entire line and they have some nice floor plans.

D-Chief...
Monaco Archive Info
If you go to the above link it will give you the roof type under the "Specs" page. All you do is go to the rig and year you are interested in and then go to the "Specs"
You can also check out the floorplans and other misc info there!

Actually, the roof construction is covered in the brochure. Shows all 9 (I think) layers. You would have to go to monaco-online.com and find one for the 2007 as they do not have the option to download the older brochures in the archives that I can find.

Thanks to one and all for the great info, particularly on extended warranties. Will make that decision today. Will be picking up new ride 2/1 and we are excited. I am impressed with the level of info provided by Y'all.
Best Regards,
