Looking at a 2006 Monaco Knight 38PDQ
Any known problem areas I should give an extra close look?
Thanks!

We have an '06 Knight as shown below. Nothing unusual that I am aware of. Great entry level DP, if there is such a thing. Had it for a year, no issues

We just finished our 3rd season in our 2005 Knight 38 PDQ. We've been very happy with it, with nothing major to report. We just replaced the front shocks at 46K miles, and now know that it should have been sooner. Actually, based on the ride change, we'll now put the rear shcoks on the list for spring. We met and talked to the owners of a 2006 Knight a couple of years ago, at a NASCAR race and their complaint was the one piece windshield. They were on their 3rd one at that time. 2006 was the first year for the one piece windshield, so if you are looking at the 2006 checkout all 4 corners and watch for leaks in these areas. This underscores the proper use of the jacks in a Monaco:
1). Slides out while at ride height,
2). Lower the chassis
3). Begin leveling the coach by deploying the front jack first to pivot off of with the rear jacks.

Thanks all.
We got the unit and we're very pleased. we are at 45k miles and have been contemplating the shock upgrade as well. I have read about the windshield issues with this unit so I'll certainly keep and eye on that. Only issue I found that needed fairly immediate attention was the corrosion in the battery tray from off gassing.

Fix the corrosion, then add mineral oil to the cells. 2oz per cell for 12 V and 4 oz per cell for 6 volt. Here's our batteries in the '02 DSDP after at least 4 years of never being cleaned. Still had the original hold down straps too

I have a 06 Knight. Does someone have a recommendation for cleaning the battery compartment?

Arm and Hammer Baking Soda mixed with water and applied with a brush. Flush with a stream of water. Sanford

Thanks Mr_D
I am going to pull everything out, do the baking soda cleanse as mentioned above, patch the hole (at least I think there is a hole) and coat it with Por15 and then likely bed liner...
Of have my buddy make a SS tray :-)

2006 40 ft knight - We upgraded the faucets so they don't leak cheap from factory, also check the sealing on the lower corners of the slides - water can run off the gutters and right into the slide, My windshield has a small crack in the corner - I left it because I feel a new one will crack again.
0 major problems just upgrades and maint - love our Monaco

Thanks. Did you just replace the seals or did you have to modify? I'll check that out.

The edge on the outer side of the slide has clear silicone on the seam to seal - I pushed on mine and found the silicone was shrunk and cracked - I cleaned and redid the silicone. No more leak

Funny. DH and I are in the final "talks" to hopefully purchase the same MH! I hope it's not the same one LOL. We've owned several TT and now hoping to take the jump to an entry level DP. We really like the options on the Knight (I'm hoping we can close the deal soon!)
