The drivers side mirror on my 08 knight is loosening up. The entire thing, where it attaches to the coach, is loose.

The only thing I can see on the outside is a round platic cap directly under shere the arm attaches.

Lokking inside, thru the genny door, I only see the butt ends of 4 wood screws, and they are tight, they don't move when I wiggle the mirror. The heads are burried somewhere in the mirror bracket anyway.

Here's a pic of the mirror.
Can someone tells me how to tighten it up before it falls off?

I had the same thing happen to our 07 Knight. I ended up drilling four holes in the plastic cover where I thought the head of those wood screws are. I took the screws out one at a time and putting bolts thru with large fender washers on the inside. The biggist problem was reaching up in there to get the washers and nuts on. I then went to the auto parts store and got those plastic plugs for the holes that I drilled.

The plastic plug just pops out. You don't have to drill it out they are reusable. Some times the cap is thin, where they mount the mirrors. You can put a wood brace behind the fiberglass and beef up the mount.

There are no holes to start with, after you drill them out you put the plugs in. You can take the whole plastic cover off also but I could see on mine that I would probably break it getting it off so I just drilled the holes.

Jim,
If you remove that plastic cap on the underside of the bracket you will find a nut that holds the arm to the bracket. If you remove that nut the arm will come free and you will then be able to pull the bracket cover off and have access to the screws that hold the bracket to the coach.

The "real" answer you are looking for is: Just go look at it again....there is nothing wrong with it.....it was all just a mistake....there is nothing wrong....it was all just a mistake....

Well, did it work ???

I'm still kinda new at this.

Naa.... it still wiggles. Makes me crazy driving down the road with everything behind me wiggling just a little bit....

Still wondering about what tool I should have in my hand when I take that nut off... I'll be holding a 40 pound mirror hanging by a bunch of wires....

Phillips screwdriver?
1/4" nutdriver?
5/16" nutdriver?
hmmm.....

I think this link goes to the owners manual for most of our Velvac mirrors. It includes mounting instructions and should help you to get them tightened up.

I hope this is helpful because I really hate seeing a grown man

This is the correct answer. We had to take ours off and tighten the mirror also. It was so bad the mirror would shake as we went down the road. Get someone to stand on the ground to hold the mirror as you slip it up off the mount. Unplug the mirror and lay it aside.

I hope you have better luck than I did taking that mirror off. I removed that bolt from the bottom but the mirror arm was froze in the tapered socket it sets in. That is why I drilled the holes to get to the screws. Once I had the complete mirror arm off I used pb blaster and let it set overnite. It finally broke loose. When I put it back together I coated the tappered hole with neverseize.
