Try this again. Have a Magnadyne radio with the Sirius radio option. Radio works extremely well on all AM and FM stations. When in Sirius mode the radio shuts itself off. It may stay on for 5 minutes up to four hours but it then turns itself off. This happens driving down the road, there is no one in the bedroom to hit the radio switch back there. It ONLY happens when in Sirius mode. Quite frustrating when you have to keep turning it back on while driving down the road.

Any ideas?

MSgt.,

I have the same radio and Sirius addition on my dashboard radio. My first thought is that the plug from the Sirius module to the radio is not firmly seated. I'd disconnect them, check for a loose or bent pin and reconnect them. Then I'd shake them to see if you can make it go off. You might also manually "work" the cable to see if there is a loose or broken wire. There is also a cable from the Sirius antenna to the module. It is a thin cable. If it has a break in it, it could cut out the signal, but you would probably get a message on the radio that it is trying to acquire a signal.

Last resort is to talk to Magnadyne in California about trading out the cable and Sirius module - maybe the raio too. I found them easy to work with.

Good Luck

W8RLM - Bob

I had the same problem with my radio, The problem was in fact the plug for the Sirius adapter bing loose in the radio. I ended up tying the cord to the radio harness. Since doing this the radio has not gone out.

My suggestion is to pull the radio and replace it. Our problems with the OEM Magnadyne were endless not to mention that the radio is awkward to use in the first place and secondly the Sirius connector and installation was more expensive than the radio. Finally, customer service proved to be a zero.

We had an Alpine installed that has an built in Ipod connector, problem solved and happy tunes. The radio is only a 1Din but was installed with a Ford truck housing and fits perfectly. If you are not able to solve your problem and think our route might work I will e-mail you the details.

MSGT,

IDA-X303 Alpine Digital Receiver
KCA SC100 Alpine Sirius Radio Interface
SC-C1C Sirius Connect Car Tuner
99-5800 F-150 Truck 96&up

Simple system, doesn't require an additional antenna and works great.

I got rid of the Sanyo CD player and the RCA entertainement center as well. With the Ipod and Sirius radio I have no need for the CD player. The RCA would over heat and quit so I had a Sony Blu-Ray home theatre system installed.

Now, all is well. There are endless options for you, I hope this helps to point you in the right direction.

Rick
