Hello everyone..I went to a rv show this week-end and listened to one of the sales reps talking about maintaining motorhome coaches. I purchased some cleaning/soap to wash the full body paint. He mentioned to me to not forget to maintain the exterior roof. There were other people with other questions so I did not have a chance to ask him...WHAT DO YOU MEAN..MAINTAIN THE ROOF.

I have a 2005 holiday rambler sceptre with full body paint....my question is..What do I have to maintain on the roof?? My chaulking looks good, so can anyone advise me how and what to maintain on my.... so far..leak proof roof. Any advice would be greatly appreciated...

Thx..Ted and Kathy Mckay from Canada

Frequent inspections are a good start. That DiCor on the seams gives little or no warning when it un-seals; the leaks are next. Just re-sealed about a fourth of the side seams on an 8 yr old fiberglass roof. Openings for vents and domes are tended often to prevent rather than fix. There is even an inspection program I was just reading about, funded in part by DiCor for dealers to do roof inspections.

So many people just forget about the roof, wash it when you clean the outside then you can inspect and fix anything that might of got knock off. Cleaning roof also helps keep sides cleaner.

Dicor is a brand name, they have EPDM(rubber roof) EPDM tape heat/ pressure activated- comes in strips 4-6 inches wide or wider and activates as you rub it once on. They also have lap sealant-tube you squeeze on for places the tap won't work(around antenna, ladder supports, etc) they also have a roof sealant.
