Matching the paint on a 2004 Signature

I recently purchased a 2004 Signature that needs a bit of touch up and has two major scratches. I called Monaco and they sent me a sheet which has all the paint codes for the various colors used on my coach. Digging a little farther I found that the paint was manufactured by BASF and is sold under the "DIAMONT" trade name.

To match the paint, you must first locate a BASF distributor who handles the DIAMONT paints. Then they must take the paint codes and call:

Industrial Finishes Inc.3455 W 1st AveEugene, OR 97402 800-531-1305 or 541-485-2033 Industrial Finishes | Welcome to Industrial Finishes!

and ask for the technical dept. The Monaco paint code, will identify the color. Industrial will then give the distributor the formula for the color you want.

Seems like a long way "around the block" to get the paint, but this is what I've come up with.

I'm going to have my local paint shop get some of my colors and we'll find out how good the match is.

I would assume that this is the way to match all the (at least pre 2008) colors.

A few years back I lived a similar experience. I wanted to have three small touch up bottles made for stone chips and such things. I ended up finding a paint supply shop in Spokane that would work with the Diamet colours and mixed them up for me. I may suggest if you are painting you have a few touch up bottles made up.

The world is quickly changing around us. Your coach was painted with oil paint. You can't get it anymore. The original paint codes won't help a lot.

Modern paint suppliers use computer scan technology to match the paint they are supplying to the paint on your vehicle. I believe NAPA offers this service.

Contact this gentleman at Elkhart Service and Collision and he can help you. Recent contact by me and he responded with touch up bottles at 12.00 each plus shipping. I had three colors on my 05 dynasty. Cost may vary depending on colors.

I would think that 9 year old paint would be a bit faded and using the original formula might not match all that well. It would provide a good starting point for a computer scan true match.

If you have a hard time finding the paint codes look on the inside of doors such as the bathroom. Go figure why they do something like that.

I believe the paint codes are listed on the drivers side seat pedestal. Check there and see as they are on my 07 neptune.

The procedure in my first post has worked. Found a local Diamont distributor and have ordered some paint.
