I have a Trace RV2012M inverter with a RC 7Gs remote controler in my 2006 Winsor it is only bringing my house batterys up to 12.45 volts and then starts float charging which I could live with but as I understand it will not start charging my chassis batterys until the voltage in house batterys is over 13 volts?? therfore my chassis batterys are ran dead after the coach sets for awhile the house batterys are brand new 4 six volts is there a way to adjust my inverter to raise the charge voltage on the house batterys?? Do you think something is wrong with my inverter?? everything else about it seems to be functioning great! Any help on this would be greatly apprieciated

Don,
I am not familiar with the Trace but the guys on the Yahoo site are. I know Rex is and he is on this site often so maybe he will jump in and answer your question. I don't think your inverter should go to float until the voltage gets to 13.6 volts. If it is going into float at 12.45 that seems wrong to me.

Have you gone through all the settings on your Trace RV2012 via the RC7 and made sure they are correct. That is correct that you will not start to charge your chassis batteries until you get to 13.2 volts on your house batteries. That is controlled separately by sounds like the Intellitec B.I.R.D system. So if your house battery(s) are bad so it can't charge them up to a voltage of 13.2 then the chassis batteries will never be charged. It is not the problem of the BIRD but sounds like either you have a bad chassis battery or your charger is set up wrong. Do you have standard lead acid batteries or AGM batteries. Have you changed anything on the RC7 setup?

Don the first two replies gave you the right information. Also check that you have the correct type battery identified in the RC-7. If you find everything is set properly, then you do have a charging problem with the Inverter. You will need to send it to, or visit, a good shop that has the skills and know how to make the repair. Call Xantrex to find an authorized repair shop. Trace in now part of Xantrex.

Thanks for the help I believe I have gone through and programed the RC 7 right as far as I can tell. Is there any adjustments I can make to the inverter itself or are they set by the factory?? Like I say it runs great gives me 120 v AC but will not charge up coach batteries past 12.5 volts before switching to the float cycle. Again thanks for all the help I'm confused when it comes to power anything

Don,I have an older Xantrex unit in my Coach and the charging level / float levels are software set.
Had an issue with it charging in different modes, so I contacted a dealer in N.C. and went over the problem with him.
He mentioned that if I could stop by while traveling he would check it out.
I stopped by he had the defective circuit board in stock, replaced it and sent me on my way. At the time it cost me 200.00 for everything.
Dick.

Have you tried re-booting your converter?
1. Disconnect shore power and turn off generator
2. Turn MAIN switch on inverter to OFF
3. Turn HOUSE and CHASSIS battery disconnects off
4. Wait 30-60 seconds to let capacitors discharge
5. Switch HOUSE and CHASSIS battery disconnects on
6, Turn MAIN switch on inverter ON
7. Connect shore power or start generator

Don, I have the same basic converter in my Sig. If the reboot doesn't work then we should compare setup notes as how you set yours up. Mine works OK. You can email me direct at mike.c@mindspring.com and we can go over it.
I found my settings....pretty easy

Just joined the website. Have question! Our Cayman is winterized, covered, and awaits the spring thaw. The 12 volt (salesman) switch is off in the coach, and the Battery disconnects (4 coach and 2 chassie) are in the off position. Will I be able to trickle charge if the coach is plugged in to 50 amp. service?

That answer should be in your factory manual. On mine I can plug it in and turn the salesman switch and both disconnects off and it will still charge the chassis and house batteries from the charger and the solar panel.

If you have a 50 amp service available why worry about disconnecting everything. Just keep it plugged into the 50 amp shore power. Also make sure both the chassis and house batteries are being charged. If the weather gets very cold where you have the coach stored and the batteries are not kept charged, they will freeze and be ruined.
