Hi guy's

I want to go and see Mexico but having looked for Mexican insurance on the Internet I am now confused at a higher level than I was before I started looking.

I seems like a jungle and in order to stop some company taking advantage of my ignorance I am asking for your help. Who do I contact that will give me a fair price and a no-nonsense deal?

I am insured with Progressive and I assume that they will accept me going to Mexico if I purchase a separate Mexican insurance.

I probably want to go something like 2 weeks at a time.

Please may I have your comments!

Regards

The Great Dane

We were just on a 41 day caravan to Mexico and you need two types of insurance depending on how far into mexico you are going and how long you will be there. The first and cheapest is an ad on to your existing insurance for comp and colision. For me that was only 5 dollars. The expensive insurance is the Mexican Liability, this must be written by a company authorized in Mexico. We bought ours through the tour company and I think the cost was just under 200 for 6 months. The price is linked to the amount of insurance and deductable. Hope this helps

I have been very happy with the Ada Vis company located in Murietta, CA.

http://www.adavisglobal.com/

They made more sense and explained how it works.

Lewis and Lewis ( do a google) have been in business for more than 25 years> They will provide you with an online quote. I have used them for the last 20 years and have had some claims and all were handled well.

Hi Guy's

Thank you for your advice.

We have joined Vagabundos Del Mar - Vagabundos - and have taken out a 1 year insurance.

It turns out that we through our existing insurers - Progressive - are covered except for 3rd party when going to Mexico.

We therefore have paid $187 for the Diplomat and another $187 for the Saturn toad ( 1 year). There are several different levels of 3rd party insurance, but this is the one that will cover you in the best possible way, should you ever have an accident.

See you "down there" - maybe!

Enjoy your time "south of the border"!

Please stay in touch and make sure you post back if you have any problems & how the company handled it!

Welcome to the Vags. The pig roast is coming up soon. Hope to see you there or in Baja.
