I have sealed all places when mice might enter using steel wool but I question the many hoses, pipes and wire bundles that enter the water tank area just below the floor and forward of the drive wheels. The factory sealed them with foam that I am sure the mice can chew through. They are nearly impossible to get to due to other equipment and framing in the way. Has anyone found a way to address is issue? Thanks

There will be one place they will still get in is through your vent holes of your furnace.
When your ready to start up furnace your will hear a loud screech and than flesh burning on heater hot tubes and a head rolling around in the fan housing.
If you have two women in coach watching movie there maybe more screeching.
Have wire mouse traps with peanut butter in compartments for safety.

Welcome to irv2.

After unsuccessfully dealing with an infestation with sealants , traps and other various human methods I finally solved the problem by putting mouse baits in propane and wet bay compartment as well as on top of tires when parked.

Likewise have had the problem. Had to put in a new carpet. Insurance paid for it.(check that out). First I used the drier sheets for a couple of years and they worked ok. (I used over 100 sheets is spots you wouldn't believe.)
Then I added the high frequency plug in models. They seemed to help a little bit. But if the meeses (plural of mice) get in then you have to turn into a killer. I used the old style traps, but they can get messy and the wife hates them.
I found a trap that is shaped like a hockey puck just a little larger. You put peanut butter inside. Then the puck turns and rachets open and locks. The mouse comes into a hole in the side, tries the peanut butter and slamo he's a dead duck(mouse). And he stays there, You check your traps and if one is set you just pick it up throw it away and replace it. You never have to have a face to face with your victim.

So I do all the preventative maintenance and also plan for the worst case scenario. I have 8 traps going and haven't replaced one in a couple of years. The word must be out.
One of the worst things you can do bait a mouse and he goes off and dies in your wall or someplace you can't find them.

If you REALLY want to seal the area up there are 2 ways
1 use the steel wool and when you stuff the wool make a small hole back in haf way and spray foem though the steel wool. (this works best with stainless steel wool, if you can find it)
2 can almost be used with out without steel wool. High quality RTV sealant. ultra black, ultra grey, or ultra blue are going to run about $14 for a calking gun size tube.
The ultra types are of a permatex brand, available at most auto parts stors.

Run your hands above those lines/holes you desccribe in the OP. Mine looked good and sealed from below but were almost open runways up on top. Sealed them with foam.

The mouse problem is an on-going one..... I have discussed it with many of my friends with coaches and their solutions were as varied as there was coaches...... I tried most of their remedies and they worked somewhat.... I have found that the answer to the problem is maintenance.....
I keep my coach inside a metal storage building..... I put out the little mouse bait boxes in several spots inside the building (outside my coach)..... I then put 7 old fashion mouse traps in different out of the way locations inside my coach..... about a year ago I caught two in one night and none since..... I check the traps about every couple of weeks and re-bait when the peanut butter get hard..... I don't think a person can ever keep the little critters from getting in the coach.... and when they do they don't last but about one night..... this has been my solution and it seems to work.

Good luck with your remedy.

Our Motorhome sets out on the side of the barn. Over ten years ago I started using bar bait, mouse killer, i use it in the barn and outside. Take a coffee can and drill a 1" hole in it, put some bar bait in the can. Check your can in a week or so. the coffee can keeps your other animals out of it. Have not had a problem since I started with the bait. good luck. Denny

Mice and RATS can be a disgusting problen, indeed. Over the years I have found the best method is deligently using the old fashion mouse and rat traps depending on who your visitors are. I bait them with peanut butter and keep about 4 of them loaded while the coach is parked. Have also used the "sticky" boards in some confined areas with some success. I don't use the bait that dehydrates them because (1) they will die in some hidden corner of you coach with the associated stink and (2) they go nuts for water and will chew wiring, insulation, plumbing, etc to find it causing worse problems. Bottom line...what ever works for you, do it and do it as part of your routine maintence tasks.

One other thing we found when we were parked in a high mouse activity area was a product called Stay Away, available on Amazon. Basically it is a sawdust type of material that is saturated with the scent of bobcat urine. Sprinkle it around anything that touches the ground (tires, water hose, power line, slinky).

Bobcats are natural enemies of mice, and they mark their territory with urine. So the mice thinks there is a bobcat in the vicinity and they stay away.

Worked for us.

I am in the process of sealing holes in my coach to keep mice and bugs as well as air infiltration from the outside. I have found about a 12" X 12" hole beneath the shower, a large unsealed hole beneath the water heater, and I have already sealed the 3 rollers that the living room/kitchen slides on. I am trying to seal where the steering column goes down thru the floor. This has a rubber boot on it but it does not seal well. I have only caught 1 mouse since we have owned this coach, but, I want to keep the air from getting into the coach also. A determined mouse I think will get into about anything but I want to make them have to work at it. George R. 2001 Diplomat

CATS

DW feeds about 30 wild cats, we have no mice, no rats, no snakes. (but, way too many cats)

We automatically have the "Stayaway" product when we travel.

Our Dynasty has those 4 inch hatches in the utility bay. Has anyone come up with something you can use to seal the holes while you have cords and hoses coming through the hatches? Thanks

John Camelot,
I forgot to mention that I started using that "Stay Away" this year. I don't know if it solely resolved the problem or the over-abundance of things that I use all help a little.
But, I'll keep using them all. It's a lot cheaper to use prevention.
